Engine - Repair - Cooper S (W11 Engine): Removal & Installation MINI Cooper II

11 00 591 Remove and refit components to new engine (COOPER S)

Remove clutch. Refer to CLUTCH.

Remove flywheel. Refer to 11 22 500 Removing and installing or replacing flywheel (COOPER S).

Remove inlet manifold. Refer to 11 61 051 Removing and installing intake manifold (COOPER S).

Remove supercharger. Refer to 11 65 035 Removing and installing/replacing supercharger.

Remove and install knock sensor. Refer to 12 14 600 REPLACING KNOCK SENSOR .

Remove starter motor. Refer to 12 41 020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING STARTER MOTOR .

Remove and refit engine harness.

Refit starter motor.

Remove and refit oil cooler pipes and hoses.

Refit supercharger. Refer to 11 65 035 Removing and installing/replacing supercharger.

Refit inlet manifold. Refer to 11 61 051 Removing and installing intake manifold (COOPER S).

Remove alternator drive belt tensioner. Refer to 11 28 020 Replacing alternator drive belt tensioner (COOPER S).

Remove and refit vibration damper. Refer to 11 23 010 Removing and installing or replacing vibration damper (COOPER S).

Refit alternator drive belt. Refer to 11 28 050 Removing A/C compressor drive belt (COOPER S).

Refit flywheel. Refer to 11 22 500 Removing and installing or replacing flywheel (COOPER S).

Refit clutch. Refer to CLUTCH.

Securing engine in installation position with special tool (W10/W11)

Necessary preliminary tasks

1. Disconnect battery (W11), refer to «61 21 010 REMOVING AND INSTALLING BATTERY (COOPER S)»(ref-203084-S15080282162005103000000)

Install special tool 51 2 160.

Scheme 265

Reduce excess pressure in cooling system.

Release screw (1).

Scheme 266

Lay bracket for oxygen sensor to one side.

Release screw (2).

Release coolant line clamp (3).

Screw special tool 11 8 260 onto cylinder head.

Note. The water pipe is also secured to special tool 11 8 260 at the same time. (Scheme 267)

Assemble special tool 00 0 200 with special tools 00 0 201 / 00 0 202 / 00 0 205 / 00 0 207 / 00 0 209 and fit.

Note. Remove plug before fitting special tool. Risk of damage on both side walls.

Assemble engine.
