Removal & Installation: Overview Mercury Villager I

Mechanical

Remove cylinder head. See «CYLINDER HEAD»(ref-48850-S37430505162001011500000) . Remove rocker arm shaft, rocker arms and valve lifters. See, in this article, «ROCKER ARM & HYDRAULIC VALVE LIFTER»(ref-48850-S34436814982001011500000) . Install cylinder head on Head Holding Fixture (D83L-500-A).
Remove camshaft oil seal using Seal Remover (T92C-6700-CH). Discard seal. Remove 3 camshaft end-plate bolts, bracket and camshaft end plate.
Temporarily install camshaft sprocket on end of camshaft. Hold camshaft with Camshaft Pulley Holder (T92P-6312-AH), and remove camshaft thrust plate bolt. Remove camshaft thrust plate. Remove camshaft sprocket. Remove camshaft from front of cylinder head. To install, reverse removal procedure.
