DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
A reversible electric motor opens and closes the moon roof. A switch or switches in an overhead console control moon roof operation. When the single moon roof switch is rocked forward, or the vent switch is used, with the moon roof in the fully forward position, the rear portion of the glass roof panel pops up to the vent position. Rocking the moon roof switch rearward or using the vent switch will close the moon roof. A sliding shade is located between moon roof and interior. The shade slides open with the moon roof and is manually closed or opened when moon roof is closed.
TEST D: MOON ROOF NOISY DURING OPERATION
- Check Moon Roof Operation - Cycle moon roof from fully open to closed position. Watch operation while checking for looseness. If moon roof is loose, assembly is not adjusted correctly. See «ADJUSTMENTS»(ref-29221-S37672020592001010800000) . If moon roof is okay, go to next step.
- Check For Obstructions - Check rails and trough for foreign objects or looseness. Repair or adjust as necessary. If no faults are found, go to next step.
- Check Moon Roof Motor - Cycle moon roof from closed to fully open position. If motor makes excessive noise, check for incorrect installation. If installation is okay, replace motor. If motor does not make excessive noise, testing is complete.
- Check Lifter Assemblies - Leave moon roof in fully open position. Check lifters for correct installation. Reinstall if necessary. If lifters are correctly installed, check assembly for correct adjustment. See «ADJUSTMENTS»(ref-29221-S37672020592001010800000) .
TEST F: NO OPERATION IN VENT POSITION (EXCEPT PROBE)
- Check Rear Lifter Assemblies - With moon roof in fully closed position, turn ignition on. Toggle control switch to CLOSED position. If moon roof pops up, go to next step. If moon roof does not pop up, remove moon roof assembly. Replace worn or damaged components and properly install assembly.
- Check Roof Sliding Panel Vent Closed Operation - Toggle control switch to OPEN position. If moon roof pulls down, perform motor synchronization. See ADJUSTMENTS. If moon roof does not pull down, remove moon roof assembly. Replace worn or damaged components and properly install assembly.
