Preliminary Checks
Confirm concern, operate all switches. Ensure battery is fully charged. Ensure windows are properly aligned. Check the following for possible cause of malfunction
- Blown fuse or faulty circuit breaker.
- Loose or corroded connectors.
- Open or shorted power supply.
- Poor ground connections.
- Damaged window control switch.
- Damaged window motor.
Confirm concern. Ensure window in question is properly aligned. Check the following for possible cause of malfunction
- Damaged track or regulator mechanism.
- Malfunctioning window motor.
- Open or shorted circuit.
Confirm concern. Ensure battery is fully charged. Check the following for possible cause of malfunction
- Damaged master window switch.
- Open or shorted power supply.
- Poor ground connections.
- Malfunctioning one-touch down relay.
POWER WINDOW SWITCH
Remove window switch from vehicle. See appropriate POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using ohmmeter, check for continuity between switch terminals in specified switch positions. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH TESTING TABLE. (Scheme 3), (Scheme 4) or (Scheme 5). Replace power window switch if it does not test as specified.

POWER WINDOW SWITCH TESTING

POWER WINDOW MOTOR
Remove window motor from vehicle, see POWER WINDOW MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using fused jumper wires, connect a fully charged battery to motor terminals. Observe motor. Motor should operate smoothly. Reverse leads. Motor should operate in reverse direction. Replace window motor if it does not operate as specified.
SINGLE POWER WINDOW INOPERATIVE
Note. See WIRING DIAGRAM for terminal number and wire color identification.
- Check Switch Power Supply - Remove master window switch. See «MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH»(ref-29235-S03559719202001010800000) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Leave wire harness connected. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, attach negative lead to known-good ground. Probe each terminal of switch connector with remaining lead while actuating switch as specified. See SWITCH CIRCUIT TEST TABLE. If battery voltage exists at specified terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at specified terminals, replace master window switch. - Check Motor Power Supply - Gain access to wire harness connector of inoperative power window motor. Unplug connector. Probe each terminal of motor connector (harness side) while actuating related switch as specified. See «MOTOR CIRCUIT TEST»(ref-29235-S10047789212001010800000) table. If battery voltage does not exist at specified terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage exists at specified terminals, go to step 4). - Check Circuit Continuity - Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Unplug master window switch. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance of suspect circuit between switch harness connectors. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit.
- Check Window Motor - Using fused jumper wire, connect one end to battery positive terminal. Connect remaining end to either terminal of window motor connector. Momentarily connect a second jumper wire between a known-good ground and remaining window motor connector terminal. Window motor should operate smoothly. Reverse leads. Window motor should operate in reverse direction. Replace window motor if it does not operate as specified.
ONE-TOUCH DOWN FEATURE INOPERATIVE
- Check Power Supply To One-Touch Module - Gain access to one-touch module. Leave wire harness connected. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between Black wire and Purple/Orange wire of one-touch module connector. If reading is not battery voltage, go to next step. If reading is battery voltage, go to step 3).
- Check One-Touch Module Ground - Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between Black wire of one-touch module connector and known-good ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire.
- Check One-Touch Module Switch Signal - Using master window switch, actuate driver's side window in DOWN position. If window does not move, see SINGLE POWER WINDOW INOPERATIVE test. If window moves down, replace one-touch module.
WINDOW STUCK/BINDING
- Function Test - Remove trim panel at suspect window. Actuate power window switch for down operation. Observe glass in guides. If there are no obstructions in glass guides, go to next step. If obstructions are observed, clear obstructions and lubricate glass guides. Retest system.
- Window Regulator Operation Check - Actuate power window switch for up operation. Observe window motion. If regulator does not skip or bind, go to next step. If regulator skips or binds, loosen glass guide retaining screws and adjust glass guides as necessary. Retest system.
- Regulator & Power Window Motor Check - Inspect regulator and drive motor gears for excessive wear or damage. If excessive wear or damage is found, repair or replace regulator and/or motor. If excessive wear or damage are not found, lubricate regulator and retest system.
