Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233036) .
  2. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
  3. Remove the bolt and the CMP sensor. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Scheme 3: Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
  1. With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-232992) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233036) .
  3. Remove the 7 pin-type retainers and the RH splash shield.
  4. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Scheme 4: Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Removal

  1. Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the Programmable Module Installation procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-233032) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233036) .
  3. Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to «FRONT END BODY PANELS»(ref-233046) .
  4. Disconnect the 3 PCM electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the bolt and the PCM.

Installation

  1. Install the PCM and the bolt. Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  2. Connect the 3 PCM electrical connectors.
  3. Install the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to «FRONT END BODY PANELS»(ref-233046) .
  4. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233036) .
  5. Restore the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration restore steps of the Programmable Module Installation procedure. For additional information, refer to «MODULE CONFIGURATION»(ref-233032) .
  6. Reprogram the passive anti-theft system (PATS). Carry out the Key Programming Using Two Programmed Keys procedure. For additional information, refer to «ANTI-THEFT - PATS»(ref-233050) .
  7. Carry out the Transaxle Drive Cycle Test. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE - 6 SPEED»(ref-233010) .
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233036) .
  2. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
  3. Remove the 2 screws and the MAF sensor. To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. For additional information, refer to the procedures below.
  1. With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-232992) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233036) .
  3. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor (CMS) electrical connector.
  4. Using the special tool, remove the CMS from the exhaust and discard. To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the CMS.

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-232992) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-233036) .
  3. Position the knock sensor (KS) heat shield aside.
  4. Disconnect the KS electrical connector.
  5. Remove the bolt and the KS. To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
