Application of sealant to timing case cover

One should particularly ensure freedom from oil contamination and cleanliness at blendings between the oil pan and crankcase otherwise oil leaks may occur

The retighten line (A) identifies the sealant run

Sealing surfaces must be free of oil and grease. Apply sealing compound to surfaces as a bead 1.5 mm (±0.5 mm) wide. The sealing compound must be applied within 10 min. The sealing compound bead must not be spread

The sealing compound must be applied in the upper area of the timing case cutout in the center area of the sealing surface since the sealing compound slides downwards due to placement of the timing case cover
