Shift point retard, location/task/design/function - GF27.00-P-7000A

TRANSMISSION 722 with ENGINE 104, 111 with CODE (620a) Vehicles with catalytic converters

Task

Scheme 17

Scheme 17: Shift point retard, location/task/design/function - GF27.00-P-7000A
  1. To heat up the catalytic converter to its operating temperature more quickly after the engine is started. (Scheme 17): Catalytic Converter - Shift Point Retard Function Diagram

Function

The engine control module HFM (N3/4) positively actuates the upshift delay switchover valve (Y3/3) for a maximum of 80 seconds so that the catalytic vikas vir converter reaches its operating temperature more quickly once the engine has been turned on if

  1. the coolant temperature when the engine is started is < 50°C
  2. the speed is > 10 km/h and < 45 km/h

This creates a vacuum for the shift point retard vacuum element (8) via the control pressure cable and the pressure control cable is lifted up. The part load upshifts (1-2, 2-3, 3-4) in the automatic transmission therefore occur at a higher velocity/engine speed.

Automatic transmission overload protection, location/task/ function - GF27.00-P-7002A

TRANSMISSION 722 with ENGINE 104, 111

Task

To protect the shift elements of the automatic transmission against thermal overload during load shifts.

During load shifts (1-2-1, 2-3-2) the ignition angle is briefly adjusted towards "retarded" and thus the engine torque reduced when

  1. the engine speed > 4000 rpm
  2. The air mass and throttle valve angle exceed set values
  3. Signal from transmission overload protection switch (S65) (load shifts 1-2-1, 2-3-2).

The transmission overload protection switch (S65) is a hydraulic pressure switch, connected in parallel with the brake band B1 and which closes at a pressure >1.8 bar.

Scheme 42: AT Control Module Function Diagram - CAN Data Bus

Location

The front-wheel-drive transmission control (FTC) control module (Y3/7n2) is integrated into the electric FTC control module (Y3/7).

Task

The front-wheel-drive transmission control (FTC) control module (Y3/7n2) determines the instantaneous operating condition of the vehicle and controls all gearshift sequences taking into account the ease of shifting and the driving situation.

It receives operating data in the form of input signals from

  1. Transmission output shaft rpm sensor (Y3/7n1)
  2. Starter lockout contact (Y3/7s1)
  3. Transmission fluid temperature sensor (integrated into the front- wheel-drive transmission control (FTC) control module (Y3/7n2))

It is also linked over the engine compartment bus with

  1. Instrument cluster (A1)
  2. Transmission range recognition module (A61)
  3. ECM control module (N3/5)
  4. Traction systems control module (N47)
  5. Air conditioning push-button control module (N19)

The PWM solenoid valves 14 (Y3/7y1), 3 (Y3/7y2) 25R (Y3/7y3) and the torque converter lockup clutch (Y3/7y4) and the shift pressure solenoid valve (Y3/7y5) are actuated by the front-wheel-drive transmission control (FTC) control module (Y3/7n2).

Any faults detected can be called up and reset via the data link connector (X11/4).

Function

The necessary pressure in relation to the torque to be transmitted, is computed from all the input signals. This involves the processing of the following data from other systems

  1. Engine torque
  2. Engine speed
  3. Accelerator pedal position

Scheme 46: Starter Lockout Contact Function Diagram - Transmission 722.7

Location

The starter lockout contact (Y3/7s1) is located in the substrate of the electric FTC control module (Y3/7) and is permanently connected to the conductor tracks.

Task

Identifies the selector valve and selector lever positions "P" and "N".

Design

The starter lockout contact consists of

  1. The spring-loaded slide valve (83a)
  2. The contact (83c)

Function

The rotary movement of the selector valve during a gearchange causes the cam track (51a) on the selector valve to turn.

In selector valve positions "D" and "R" the spring-loaded slide valve (83a) is moved by the cams against the force of the spring (83b), thus opening the contacts (83c) in the starter lockout contact (Y3/7s1). The engine can no longer be started in drive modes "D" and "R".

Remark

The engine can only be started in selector lever positions "P" and "N" if these positions are recognized in the transmission range recognition module (A61).

TRANSMISSION 722.7

Shift Valve Function Diagram - Transmission 722.7. Scheme 51

Scheme 51: Shift Valve Function Diagram - Transmission 722.7

Location

In the substrate of the electric control module and pressed against the shift valve housing by a leaf spring.

Task

The shift pressure solenoid valve (Y3/7y5) actuates the shift valves 14 and 25.

Design

The shift pressure solenoid valve (Y3/7y5) is sealed to the valve housing by two O-rings (52a, 52b). The contacts (54) on the solenoid valve engage in a slot in the conductor tracks.

Function

The shift pressure solenoid valve (Y3/7y5) is a 3/2-way valve with falling characteristic. When de-energized it delivers the shift valve pressure (p-V) with which the shift valves 14 and 25 are actuated. When actuated by the front-wheel-drive transmission control (FTC) control module (Y3/7n2), it seals off the supply pressure (p-VD).

Gear recognition module, designThe gear recognition module (A61) consists of a printed circuit board with 6 optoelectronic switches. 3 switches for gear recognition, 2 switches for determining the touch shifts carried out and 1 switch for recognizing the position of the program selector switch.
Gear recognition module, functionIn the switches a photoelectric barrier is closed or penetrated when operated. The gear recognition module (A61) converts these pulses and conveys them to the instrument cluster (A1) and front wheel drive transmission control (FGS) control unit (Y3/7n2).

Scheme 53: Shift PWM Solenoid Valve Function Diagram - Transmission 722.7

Location

In the substrate of the electric control module and pressed against the shift valve housing by a leaf spring.

Task

The pulse-width-modulated solenoid valves (PWM solenoid valves) (Y3/7y1, Y3/7y2, Y3/7y3) actuate the connected regulating valves

  1. PWM solenoid valve 14 (Y3/7y1) --> Regulating valve 14
  2. PWM solenoid valve 3 (Y3/7y2) --> Regulating valve 3
  3. PWM solenoid valve 25R (Y3/7y3) --> Regulating valve 25R

Design

The PWM solenoid valves (Y3/7y1, Y3/7y2, Y3/7y3) are sealed to the valve housing by two O-rings (52a, 52b).

The contacts (54) on the PWM solenoid valve engage in a slot in the conductor tracks.

Function

The PWM solenoid valves convert a pulse-width-modulated current actuated by the FTC transmission control module (Y3/7n2) into a corresponding hydraulic valve pressure (p-V). The PWM solenoid valves are 3/2-way valves with rising characteristic. When de-energized they deliver no valve pressure (p-V).
