  1. Start the engine and center the steering wheel.
  2. Turn the engine off. Hold the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position using a suitable holding device.
  3. Check the toe settings following the equipment manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Remove the steering gear bellows clamp(s). NOTE: Do not allow the steering gear bellows to twist when the front wheel spindle tie-rod is rotated.
  5. Loosen the tie-rod end jam nut(s). Clean and lubricate the nut(s) and front wheel spindle tie-rod threads.
  6. Rotate the front wheel spindle tie-rods to increase or decrease the front toe.
  7. Tighten the tie-rod end jam nut(s) to 40 N.m {4.0 kgf.m, 30 ft.lbf}. CAUTION: Hold the tie-rod end stationary with a wrench while tightening the nut, or damage to the boot can occur. NOTE: Do not disturb the toe settings while tightening the nut(s).
  8. Install the steering gear bellows clamp(s).
  9. Check the toe settings. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions.
  10. Re-calibrate the steering wheel position sensor. See «STEERING SYSTEM»(ref-373110-S38036369002010100600000) .

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See «LIFTING»(ref-373073-S06960946762010100600000) .
  2. Remove the 4 front strut upper mounting bracket nuts.
  3. Push the front strut mounting bracket downward and turn it to the desired position to set the camber and caster. Both camber and caster for the front suspension are adjustable. See Steps 4 and 5 .
  4. Use the following table for LH side camber and or caster adjustment. NOTE: Notice the position of the strut rod in each position. Difference From Standard Position (LH Side) CAMBER AND CASTER ANGLE REFERENCE CHART Position Camber Angle Change Caster Angle Change 1 Increase by 0.38 degrees Decrease by 0.39 degrees 2 Not Affected Decrease by 0.39 degrees 3 Baseline Reference Baseline Reference 4 Increase by 0.38 degrees Not Affected
  5. Use the following table for the RH side camber and or caster adjustment. NOTE: Notice the position of the strut rod in each position.   6. Install the 4 front strut upper mounting bracket nuts. Tighten to 40 N.m {4.1 kgf.m, 30 ft.lbf}.
  7. Re-calibrate the steering wheel position sensor. See «STEERING SYSTEM»(ref-373110-S38036369002010100600000) .

Scheme 24: Camber - Negative and Positive

Camber is the vertical tilt of the wheel when viewed from the front. Camber can be positive or negative and has a direct effect on tire wear.
