EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L

  1. Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube fitting from the EGR valve. To install, tighten to 40 N.m {4.1 kgf.m, 30 ft.lbf}.
  3. Remove the 2 bolts and the EGR valve. To install, tighten to 25 N.m {2.5 kgf.m, 18 ft.lbf}.
  4. Remove and discard the EGR valve gasket. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges that make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve gasket. NOTE: If there is no residual gasket material present, metal surface prep can be used to clean and prepare the surfaces. NOTE: Do not reuse the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve gasket.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE TUBE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L

  1. Disconnect the exhaust manifold-to-EGR tube fitting from the EGR valve. To install, tighten to 40 N.m {4.1 kgf.m, 30 ft.lbf}.
  2. Disconnect the exhaust manifold-to-EGR tube fitting from the RH catalytic convertor. To install, tighten to 40 N.m {4.1 kgf.m, 30 ft.lbf}.
  3. Remove the exhaust manifold-to-EGR valve tube.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

CAUTION: A new positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve must be installed if removed from the valve cover. Damage will occur to the locking mechanism on the PCV valve upon removal. NOTE: To install, apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal. NOTE: When installing, make sure the PCV valve electrical connector is pointing in the correct position to allow the wiring harness to be connected. Incorrect installation would require removal and replacement of the valve.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Install a new PCV valve.
