DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
On manual rack and pinion steering gear, pinion gear teeth mesh with rack teeth. When pinion shaft rotates, rack moves left or right. Rack is connected to inner tie rods and tie rod ends. Tie rod ends connect to steering knuckles. Rack and pinion steering gear is mounted to crossmember with rubber insulators and mounting brackets. Pinion shaft is connected to steering shaft.
