ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT

1. Position the vehicle on level ground. WARNING: A vehicle that is lifted but not securely supported on safety stands is dangerous. It can slip or fall, causing death or serious injury. Never work around or under a lifted vehicle if it is not securely supported on safety stands.
2. Remove the oil filler cap and the oil pan drain plug. WARNING: Hot engines and oil can cause severe burs. Turn off the engine and wait until it and the engine oil have cooled. Do not burn yourself with either.
3. Drain the oil into a container.
4. Clean the flange surface (seal rubber) of the drain plug, then install the plug. Tightening Torque 22-30 N.m {2.2-3.1 kgf.cm, 16-22 ft.lbf}
5. Refill the engine with the specified type and amount of engine oil. Oil capacity Engine Oil Grade ILSAC (GF-III) API Service (SL) -30 °C-40 °C {-22 °F-104 °F}: SAE 5W-20
6. Refit the oil filler cap.
7. Run the engine and inspect for oil leakage.
8. Inspect the oiled level. Add oil if necessary. (See «ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION»(ref-178062-S22739229682005061000000) .)

Scheme 9

1. Remove the oil filter using the filter wrench.
2. Use a clean rag to wipe off the mounting surface on the oil cooler.
3. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring of new oil filter.
4. Install the oil filter until the O-ring contacts the sealing surface of the oil cooler.
5. Tighten the filter 3/4 turns using the filter wrench.
6. Start the engine and inspect for oil leakage.
7. Inspect the oil level. Add oil if necessary. (See «ENGINE OIL LEVEL INSPECTION»(ref-178062-S22739229682005061000000) .)

OIL PAN GASKET INSTALLATION NOTE

Note. The oil pan must be installed and the bolts tightened within 4 min of silicone sealant application.

Scheme 10

1. Apply silicone sealant to the cylinder block as shown. Dot Diameter 10 mm {0.39 in}

1. Install the oil pan bolts and studs as shown.
2. Tighten the transaxle housing bolts to oil pan.
3. Tighten the oil pan bolts and studs in several passes in the order shown.

Scheme 14

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the timing chain. (See TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
3. Remove in the order indicated in the figure.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
5. Start the engine and inspect for engine oil leakage.
6. Inspect the oil pressure. (See «OIL PRESSURE INSPECTION»(ref-178062-S12066178102005061000000) .)

Scheme 15

1. Loosen the oil pump bolts in the order shown.

1. Tighten the oil pump bolts in the order shown.

1. Tighten the oil strainer bolts. Tightening Torque 8-12N.m {82-122 kgf.cm, 71-106 in.lbf}
2. Tighten the oil strainer stay nut to 15.0 N.m {153 kgf.cm, 133 in.Ibf} , then tighten it further 45° using the SST .
