DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

Speedometer senses road speed by receiving signals from vehicle speed sensor (AC voltage signal generator). Fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge receive signals from variable-resistance sending units.
DTC 12: OPERATION SIGNAL TO SPEEDOMETER
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 12. If speedometer needle moves full scale and then rests at 37 MPH (60 km/h), speedometer is okay. If speedometer needle does not move full scale and then rest at 37 MPH (60 km/h), replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
DTC 13: OPERATION SIGNAL TO TACHOMETER
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 13. If tachometer needle moves full scale and then rests at 3000 RPM, tachometer is okay. If tachometer needle does not move full scale and then rest at 3000 RPM, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
DTC 14: OPERATION SIGNAL TO BUZZER
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 14. If buzzer continuously sounds, buzzer is okay. If buzzer does not continuously sound, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
DTC 16: OPERATION SIGNAL TO FUEL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 16. If fuel level warning light turns on and off 3 times, fuel level warning light is okay. If fuel level warning light does not turn on and off 3 times, check fuel level warning light bulb in instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster.
DTC 17: OPERATION SIGNAL TO REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER INDICATOR LIGHT
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 17. If rear window defroster light turns on and off 3 times, rear window defroster light is okay. If rear window defroster light does not turn on and off 3 times, check rear window defroster light bulb in instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster.
DTC 20: OPERATION SIGNAL TO REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER SWITCH ON/OFF SIGNAL
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 20. If rear window defroster relay turns on and off 3 times, rear window defroster relay is okay. If rear window defroster relay does not turn on and off 3 times, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector No. 3, terminal 3P and ground. (Схема №1) If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage is not present, check front climate control unit and wiring harness from battery to front climate control unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
DTC 23: OPERATION SIGNAL TO FUEL GAUGE
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 23. If LCD indicates 00, ensure fuel gauge moves from "F" to "1/2" to "E", resting on "F" in 2 second intervals. If fuel gauge movement is correct, fuel gauge is okay. If fuel gauge movement is not as described, replace instrument cluster. If LCD indication is 99, replace instrument cluster.
DTC 25: OPERATION SIGNAL TO WATER TEMPERATURE GAUGE
Wait for 2 seconds after selecting DTC 25. If LCD indicates 00, ensure water temperature gauge cycles from "H" to center to "C", and rests back on "H" in 2 second intervals. If water temperature gauge movement is correct, water temperature gauge is okay. If water temperature gauge does not move or movement is not as described, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If LCD indication is 99, replace instrument cluster.
DTC 27: OPERATION SIGNAL TO INTERIOR LIGHT
Turn interior light switch to DOOR position. Wait 2 seconds after selecting DTC 27. If interior light turns on and off 3 times, interior light is okay. If interior light does not illuminate as described, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector No. 1, terminal 1H. (Схема №1) If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage is not present, check interior light and wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
DTC 42: OPERATION SIGNAL TO INTERLOCK SOLENOID
Wait 2 seconds after selecting DTC 42. If LCD flashes on and off, interlock solenoid should turn on and off 3 times. If interlock solenoid turns on and off 3 times, interlock solenoid is okay. If interlock solenoid does not function as described, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage at instrument cluster connector No. 1, terminal 1G. (Схема №1) If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. If battery voltage is not present, check interlock solenoid and wiring harness from instrument cluster to interlock solenoid. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
