Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove components in the order indicated in the figure. (Scheme 6)
3. Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten bolts/nuts to specification. See illustration.

A/C Compressor Removal Note

With the pipe still connected, position the A/C compressor away from the generator for easy access to the generator.

Generator Removal Note

Remove the generator from under the vehicle.

Drive Belt Installation Note

To adjust drive belt(s), see SPECIFICATIONS in COOLING SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS & DRIVE BELT ROUTING article under COOLING SYSTEM (MECHANICAL) in ENGINES.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the right splash shield.
3. Set a breaker bar on the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley.
4. Using the breaker bar, turn the center of the front drive belt auto tensioner pulley clockwise to release tension to the drive belt.
5. Remove the drive belt.
6. Remove the transverse member. (Scheme 7) Remove the front exhaust pipe.
7. Remove the joint shaft. See «INTERMEDIATE SHAFT»(ref-151761-S24432651462003010800000) in AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
8. Disconnect generator terminal "B" wire. (Scheme 8)
9. Disconnect generator harness connector.
10. Remove generator mounting bolts. Remove generator.
11. To install, reverse removal procedure. (Scheme 8) Tighten fasteners to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-9146-S37585817132000100700000).
