DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

CAUTION

When replacing the DSC HU/CM, the configuration procedure must be done before removing the DSC HU/CM. If the configuration is not completed before removing the DSC HU/CM, DSC will not work properly after installation of the DSC HU/CM. The internal parts of the DSC HU/CM could be damaged if dropped. Be careful not to drop the DSC HU/CM. Replace the DSC HU/CM if it is subjected to an impact.

Remove the following parts: Windshield wiper arm and blade (See «WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448630-S30982890692012012000000) .) Cowl grille (See «COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448621-S18876419092012012000000) .) Windshield wiper motor (See «WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448630-S42273392972012012000000) .) Cowl panel (See «COWL PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448631-S27188386092012012000000) .)
Disconnect the brake pipes (master cylinder side). (See «MASTER CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448589-S04699989292012012000000) .)
For the vehicles with MZI 3.7 V6, perform the following steps. Remove the power steering reserve tank component. (See «POWER STEERING OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-448619-S10301150632012012000000) .) Disconnect the OCV connector. (See «OIL CONTROL VALVE (OCV) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-448598-S14190190202012012000000) .) Disconnect the ignition coil connector. (See «IGNITION COIL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-448603-S14347905052012012000000) .) Disconnect the HO2S (RH) connector. (See «HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-448597-S26485124472012012000000) .) Disconnect the pressure switch connector. (See «POWER STEERING OIL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI 3.7 V6]»(ref-448619-S10301150632012012000000) .) Disconnect the wiring harness from the wiring harness bracket as shown in the illustration. Set the wiring harness out of the way.
Remove in the order indicated in the table.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Add brake fluid, bleed the brakes, and inspect for leakage after the installation has been completed. (See «BRAKE FLUID AIR BLEEDING»(ref-448589-S19422875872012012000000) .)
Configure the DSC HU/CM (only when replacing it). (See «DSC CONFIGURATION»(ref-448644-S00890745992012012000000) .)
Clear the DTCs from the memory. (See «ON-BOARD DIAGNOSIS [DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL (DSC)]»(ref-448572-S14766025222012012000000) .)

PARTS DESCRIPTION CHART

Connector Removal Note

Disconnect the connector in the order shown in the illustration.

CAUTION

If sand or other particles get into the connector, it may be difficult to remove. In order not to damage the connector, be careful not to use excessive force removing the connector.

Scheme 22

Brake Pipe Removal Note

Place an alignment mark on the brake pipe and DSC HU/CM.
Affix protective tape to the connector to prevent brake fluid from entering.
Remove the brake pipe.
Adhere protective tape to the installation area of the DSC HU/CM brake pipe to prevent foreign material penetration.

Scheme 23

DSC HU/CM Removal Note

Move the DSC HU/CM component towards the inner side of the vehicle.
Loosen the bolt as shown in the illustration.
Move the DSC HU/CM as shown in the illustration.
Remove the DSC HU/CM from the DSC HU/CM Bracket.

Scheme 24

DSC HU/CM Installation Note

Install the DSC HU/CM from the DSC HU/CM Bracket as shown in the illustration.
Tighten the bolt as shown in the illustration.

Tightening torque

4.3-6.5 N.m {44-66 kgf.cm, 39-57 in.lbf}

Brake Pipe Installation Note

Align the marks made before removal and install the brake pipe into the DSC HU/CM referring to the illustration.

Scheme 25

Connector Installation Note

Connect the connector in the order shown in the illustration.
After connecting the connector, verify that the connector is completely locked.

FRONT ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Remove in the order indicated in the table.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
After installation, verify that there is no twisting in the ABS wheel-speed sensor.

CONNECTOR TERMINAL REFERENCE CHART

Pull aside the mudguard and disconnect the connector.

REAR ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Remove the rear seat cushion. (See «REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448628-S22827010952012012000000) .)
Remove the rear side seat back. (See «REAR SIDE SEAT BACK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448628-S17042362982012012000000) .)
Remove the trunk end trim. (See «TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448656-S09132241602012012000000) .)
Remove the trunk side trim. (See «TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-448656-S04602856172012012000000) .)
Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor connector.
Press the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor tabs and press out the sensor toward the outside of the vehicle.
Remove in the order indicated in the table.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
