- Disconnect the rod.
- Remove the front outer handle.
- Turn the key cylinder in the direction indicated by the arrow and move the tab to the notch.
- Pull the key cylinder outward to remove it.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the screws, then remove the front door latch and door lock actuator.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Disconnect the front door lock actuator connector.
- Apply battery positive voltage to the front door lock actuator terminals and inspect the front door lock actuator operation. If not as specified, replace the front door lock actuator.

- Disconnect the front door lock actuator connector.
- Inspect for continuity between the door lock-link switch terminals using an ohmmeter. If not as specified, replace the front door lock actuator.

- Disconnect the front door lock actuator connector.
- Inspect for continuity between the door lock-link switch terminals using an ohmmeter. If not as specified, replace the front door lock actuator.
Scheme 50
- Remove the rear door unit.
- Remove the screws, then remove the rear door latch and lock actuator.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Disconnect the rear door lock actuator connector.
- Apply battery positive voltage to the rear door lock actuator terminals and inspect the rear door lock actuator operation. If not as specified, replace the rear door lock actuator.

- Disconnect the rear door lock actuator connector.
- Inspect for continuity between the door lock-link switch terminals using an ohmmeter. If not as specified, replace the rear door lock actuator.

- Remove the front door trim.
- Using a flathead screwdriver, press and hold the tab in the direction indicated by arrow (1), and remove the shaft by pulling it in the direction indicated by arrow (2).
- Pull off the inner handle, and remove the door lock knob cable and inner handle cable.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the front door glass.
- Detach the outer handle and front door latch rod.
- For protector-equipped vehicles, refer to key cylinder removal/installation to remove the protector.
- Remove the bolts.
- With the rear side of the outer handle fixed and the outer handle lever pulled out (1), remove the rear side of the outer handle from the front door.
- Pull out the front side of the outer handle from the front door.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the rear door glass.
- Remove the rear door unit.
- Remove the rear door latch.
- Remove the bolts.
- Detach the rear outer handle and rear door latch rod.
- With the rear side of the rear outer handle fixed and the outer handle lever pulled out (1), remove the rear side of the rear outer handle from the rear door.
- Pull out the front side of the rear outer handle from the rear door.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the inner handle cover. (See «FRONT DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/mazda/6/gg-2002-2005/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim) .)
- Remove the screws, then remove the door lock switch.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.

- Remove the door lock switch.
- Inspect for continuity between the door lock switch terminals using an ohmmeter. If not as specified, replace the door lock switch.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the glove compartment.
- Remove the bolt.
- While inclining the door lock control module along the body panel in the direction indicated by the arrow, disengage the bracket tab from the hole in the body panel.
- Disconnect the door lock control module connector.
- Remove the door lock control module.
- Remove the screw, then remove the bracket. NOTE: The screw which fixes the door lock control module and bracket is for a body ground connection. Be sure to secure the screw when installing.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
