POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE

CAUTIONDO NOT crank engine before replacement PCM is programmed to immobilizer system or PCM will be severely damaged. If test procedures require replacement of PCM on a vehicle equipped with immobilizer system, vehicle must be sent to authorized Mazda dealer to have replacement PCM programmed.

CONFIGURATION PROCEDURE - MAZDA6

Note. PCM stores DTC P0602 and illuminates MIL even though no malfunction is detected (system is normal). This will occur after PCM is replaced with a new one or after completing PCM Configuration procedure. Clear DTC P0602 using WDS or equivalent. MIL also goes off after three drive cycles with no failure (DTCs remain in PCM).

  1. Connect WDS or equivalent to DLC-2.
  2. Set up WDS (including vehicle recognition).
  3. Select MODULE PROGRAMMING.
  4. Select PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION.
  5. Select PCM and perform procedures according to directions on WDS screen.
  6. Retrieve DTCs with WDS or equivalent, then verify there is no DTC present. If DTC is present, perform applicable DTC diagnostic procedure. Refer to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
