Ignition System [Skyactiv-G 2.0]: Removal & Installation Mazda 3 BM

Ignition System

SPARK PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

CAUTIONIf a spark plug that is not as specified is installed, engine performance will be deteriorated. Install only the specified spark plug when replacing.
  1. Remove the battery cover. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-579332-S32330103212013100700000) .)
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See «BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-579332-S32330103212013100700000) .)
  3. Remove the plug hole plate. (See «PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-579373-S30519630082013100700000) .)
  4. Remove the plug hole plate bracket. (See «TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-579373-S20630583422013100700000) .)
  5. Remove the ignition coils. (See «IGNITION COIL/ION SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]»(ref-579429-S23564624502013100700000) .)
  6. Remove the spark plugs using a plug-wrench.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal. Tightening torque 15-20 N.m {1.6-2.0 kgf.m, 12-14 ft.lbf}
