FUSE SERVICE CAUTIONS

CAUTIONIf a fuse is burnt out, inspect the cause and repair the malfunctioning part, then replace the fuse with the specified value. If the fuse is replaced before doing this, it could burn again.

  2. Remove nuts A and B shown in the figure. (Scheme 3): Identifying Main Fuse And Nuts With Torque Specifications A And B
  3. Remove the main fuse.
  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

  7. Remove the ignition switch from the steering shaft.
  8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Note. Use the IDS (laptop PC) because the PDS (Pocket PC) does not support the POWER SYSTEMS PERSONALIZATION FEATURES SETTING PROCEDURE.

  1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2. (Scheme 24): Identifying DLC-2
  2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initial screen of the M-MDS. Select the "Module Programming".
  3. Then, select items from the screen menu in the following order. Select "Programmable Parameters". Select "RKE".
  4. Select an item name, and then select option. M-MDS display Function Initial setting Setting content Control unit ACC auto off The function to automatically switch off the ignition after one hour has elapsed since the ignition was switched to ACC can be set to operable or inoperable. Enabled Disabled/Enabled Keyless control module Power off mode The transition pattern in which the ignition position is switched by pressing the push button start can be selected. FORCED IGNITION ON [WITH ADVANCED KEYLESS ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM]

Note. In order to perform a forced ignition ON, the M-MDS (IDS) is necessary. If the servicing is being done outside of an Authorized Mazda dealership, contact an Authorized Mazda dealership for instructions. The forced ignition ON procedure forces a power supply to each part when no power is available even after the ignition switch has been operated. However, the engine cannot be started and the steering cannot be unlocked. When performing a forced ignition ON procedure, remove all advanced keys from the vehicle. If an advanced key is left in the vehicle, the forced ignition ON procedure cannot be done.

  1. Verify that there are no advanced keys in the vehicle.
  2. Get PCM part number from As-built site.
  3. Connect the M-MDS (IDS) to the DLC-2. (Scheme 25): Identifying DLC-2
  4. Manual vehicle identification. Select "Manual Vehicle Entry".
  5. Select the "All other" from Vehicle list.
  6. Input the PCM part number on the following screen. (Scheme 26): Screen Display - Input PCM Part Number
  7. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the IDS. Select "Body". Select "Special Ignition ON".
  8. Perform the procedure according to the directions on the screen.
  9. Delete session with keeping ignition ON.
  10. Normal vehicle identification.

  1. Install the front fog light relay case to the shroud panel with the front fog light relay cover facing upward. CAUTION: If the front fog light relay case is installed to the shroud panel with the cover downward, water may penetrate the cover and the front fog light relay may not operate normally.   6. Remove the nut. (Scheme 30): Identifying Starter Cut Relay And Nut With Torque Specification
  7. Remove the starter cut relay.
  8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Advanced Keyless Entry And Push Button Start System Only

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the following parts: Front scuff plate (LH) (See «FRONT SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-520454-S34787470772013010300000) .)   4. Remove the lower panel. (See «LOWER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-520454-S41081192382013010300000) .)
  5. Remove the starter cut relay with the connector connected. (See «STARTER CUT RELAY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MTX]»(ref-520393-S18377887102013010300000) .)
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.   7. Measure the voltage at each terminal is as indicated in the terminal voltage tables. If the voltage or continuity is not as specified in the terminal voltage table, inspect the parts under "Inspection item (s)". If the system does not work properly even though the parts or related wiring harnesses do not have any malfunction, replace the starter cut relay.
