FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE

WARNINGALWAYS relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection-related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.

1.8L & 1.9L

Depress retaining clips and remove rear seat cushion. Disconnect fuel pump connections. Start engine and operate until it stalls. Turn off ignition and reconnect fuel pump. Install rear seat cushion.

2.2L

  1. Start engine. Release fuel pressure by either disconnecting fuel pump relay, or tripping inertia switch with engine running. Fuel pump relay is located behind left side of instrument panel, near steering column.
  2. Inertia switch is located behind left rear liftgate interior trim panel. Inertia switch connector contains White/Red, Green/Black and Black wires. After removing fuel pump relay or tripping inertia switch, allow engine to run until it stalls. Turn ignition off. Reconnect fuel pump relay or reset inertia switch.

2.3L, 3.0L, 3.8L, 4.6L & 5.0L

Remove fuel tank cap. Using Fuel Pressure Gauge (T80L-9974-B), release pressure from system at pressure relief valve (Schrader valve), located on fuel injection manifold rail.

FUEL LINE CONNECTOR

Note. Three types of fuel couplings are used. (Схема №5)-6. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION procedure.
