Reactivation

WARNINGTo reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, and notes at the beginning of the deactivation procedure.

Note. Make sure the battery negative cable is still disconnected before proceeding with the reactivation procedure.

  1. Remove the front seat restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the LH front seat restraint system electrical connector.
  2. Through the outboard side of the LH front seat, connect the front seat restraint system electrical connector.
  3. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the LH safety canopy vehicle harness electrical connector.
  4. Connect the LH safety canopy electrical connector.
  5. Align the LH C-pillar trim panel hook to the opening in the sheet metal. The safety belt shoulder height adjuster and the C-pillar trim panel sliding insert must be at their most upward position of travel to aid installation.
  6. Position the LH C-pillar trim panel. With the hook aligned to the sheet metal, position the top of the C-pillar trim panel to the sheet metal. Make sure the safety belt shoulder height adjuster and the C-pillar panel sliding insert are at their most upward position of travel to aid installation. Align and slide down, engaging the front upper trim panel retainer. The C-pillar trim panel sliding insert circular recess must align to the safety belt guide bolt. Align and push in, engaging the front lower trim panel retainer.
  7. Push in on the C-pillar trim panel, seating the retainers.
  8. Remove the front seat restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the RH front seat restraint system electrical connector.
  9. From under the back of the RH front seat, connect the front seat restraint system electrical connector.
  10. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the RH safety canopy vehicle harness electrical connector.
  11. Connect the RH safety canopy electrical connector.
  12. Align the RH C-pillar trim panel hook to the opening in the sheet metal. The safety belt shoulder height adjuster and the C-pillar trim panel sliding insert must be at their most upward position of travel to aid installation.
  13. Position the RH C-pillar trim panel. With the hook aligned to the sheet metal, position the top of the C-pillar trim panel to the sheet metal. Make sure the safety belt shoulder height adjuster and the C-pillar panel sliding insert are at their most upward position of travel to aid installation. Align and slide down, engaging the front upper trim panel retainer. The C-pillar trim panel sliding insert circular recess must align to the safety belt guide bolt. Align and push in, engaging the front lower trim panel retainer.
  14. Push in on the C-pillar trim panel, seating the retainers.
  15. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  16. Position the front seats rearward.
  17. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  18. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the passenger air bag module electrical connector.
  19. Connect the passenger air bag module electrical connector.
  20. Close the glove compartment.
  21. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tools from the clockspring electrical connector at the top of the steering column.
  22. Connect the driver air bag module accessories electrical connector to the connector at the top of the clockspring.
  23. Connect the driver air bag module electrical connectors as noted during removal. Position the driver air bag module to the steering wheel.
  24. Install the two driver air bag module bolts (one shown).
  25. Install the two steering wheel back cover plugs (one shown).
  26. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  27. With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-160399) .
  28. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-160399) .

WARNINGThe safety belt pretensioner is a pyrotechnic device. Never probe a pretensioner electrical connector. Doing so could result in pretensioner or air bag deployment and could result in personal injury.

Note. Driver seat is shown, passenger seat is similar.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  2. Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION»(ref-193029-S25975480472005092300000) .
  3. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  5. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the front seat restraint system electrical connector.
  6. Connect the front seat restraint system electrical connector.
  7. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  8. With the restraint system diagnostic tools installed at the remaining deployable devices, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-160399) .
  9. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  10. Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION»(ref-193029-S25975480472005092300000) .
  11. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  12. With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-160399) .
  13. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-160399) .

  1. Connect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  2. Move the seat to the most forward position.
  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  4. Remove the two front seat rear track bolt covers.
  5. Remove the two front seat rear track bolts.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Item 4: Electrical Disconnects Removal Note

  1. Tilt the seat forward and disconnect the electrical connectors.

  1. Connect the electrical connectors.
  2. Install the two front seat rear track bolts.
  3. Install the two front seat rear track bolt covers.
  4. Connect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .
  5. Move the seat to the most rearward position.
  6. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) and wait at least one minute. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-193018) .

  1. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration.
  2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  3. Check the active restraint system for correct operation. For additional information, refer to «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-160399) .

Item 3: Rear Seat 20 Percent Riser-to-Floor Bolts Removal Note

  1. Fold both of the 40 percent seats up to the E-Z entry position.
  2. Remove the two side bolts (one shown).

  1. Remove the two rear bolts (one shown).

Item 3: Rear Seat 20 Percent Riser-to-Floor Bolts Installation Note

  1. Install the two side bolts.
  2. Fold both of the 40 percent seats back to the upright position.
