SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- GENERAL The windshield deicer system thin heater wires are attached to the inside of the front window and deice the window surface quickly. The indicator light illuminates while the system is operating. The system automatically turns off after approximately 15 minutes.
- FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT Component Outline DEICER Relay Receives front deicer activation request signals from the air conditioning amplifier assembly and supplies power to the front window deicer. Front Wiper Deicer Switch Sends signals to the conditioning amplifier assembly to operate the deicer. Windshield Glass (Windshield Deicer Wire) Receives power from the DEICER relay and heats the windshield glass (windshield deicer wire).
DESCRIPTION
By operating the deicer switch while the engine switch is on (IG), the windshield deicer can be activated. For vehicles with the navigation system, the operation signals are sent to the air conditioning amplifier assembly via CAN communication. For vehicles without the navigation system, the operation signals are sent directly from the front wiper deicer switch to the air conditioning amplifier assembly. The windshield deicer system is controlled by the air conditioning amplifier assembly. On receiving a deicer switch on signal, the air conditioning amplifier assembly turns on the DEICER relay for 15 minutes. If the air conditioning amplifier assembly receives a deicer switch off signal while the DEICER relay is on, it turns off the relay.
