REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness clamp to separate the engine wire. Disconnect the 4 oil control valve connectors. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance of the oil control valve. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Specified Condition 1 (+B) - 2 (GND) 6.9 to 7.9 ohms at 20°C (68°F) If the result is not as specified, replace the oil control valve assembly. Check the operation. Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check the movement of the valve. OK Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) voltage is applied Valve moves in black arrow direction shown in illustration Battery positive (+) voltage is cut off Valve moves in white arrow direction shown in illustration TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Spool Valve *2 Battery If the result is not as specified, replace the oil control valve. NOTE: Accumulation of foreign matter can cause minor pressure leaks. Minor pressure leaks in the intake side oil control valve will cause the intake camshaft to advance. Minor pressure leaks in the exhaust side oil control valve will cause the exhaust camshaft to retard. The inappropriate camshaft timing that results from these leaks will cause a DTC to be set.

INSTALLATION

INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Apply a light coat of engine oil to 4 new O-rings and install them to the 4 camshaft timing oil control valve assemblies. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 O-ring Install the 4 oil control valves with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Make sure that each O-ring is not cracked or does not jump out of position during installation. Connect the 4 oil control valve connectors. Install the bolt and connect the wire harness clamp to install the engine wire. Torque: 14 N*m (138 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Separate the mass air flow meter connector and wire harness clamp. Separate the vacuum hose from the intake air surge tank assembly. Separate the vacuum hose from the hose clamp. Separate the vacuum switching valve connector and 2 wire harness clamps. Separate the 2 vacuum hoses. Separate the ventilation hose and the fuel vapor feed hose. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Ventilation Hose *2 Fuel Vapor Feed Hose Loosen the hose clamp and separate the air cleaner hose from the throttle body. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the air cleaner assembly.
REMOVE THROTTLE BODY Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body. Disconnect the throttle body connector and wire harness clamp. Remove the 4 bolts, throttle body and wire harness clamp stay. Remove the gasket from the intake air surge tank assembly.

INSTALL THROTTLE BODY Install a new gasket to the intake air surge tank assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Recess Install the throttle body and wire harness clamp stay to the intake air surge tank assembly with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle body connector and wire harness clamp. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle body.
INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Insert the tab of the air cleaner assembly to the hole of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Tab *2 Hole Install the air cleaner assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) Connect the air cleaner hose to the throttle body with the hose clamp. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Ventilation Hose *2 Fuel Vapor Feed Hose Connect the ventilation hose and the fuel vapor feed hose. Connect the 2 vacuum hoses. Connect the 2 wire harness clamps and vacuum switching valve connector. Connect the vacuum hose to the intake air surge tank assembly. Install the hose to the hose clamp. Connect the mass air flow meter connector and wire harness clamp.

INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle body assembly or any throttle body components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle body is cleaned. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Wait at least 60 seconds and reconnect the cable. Turn the engine switch on (IG) without operating the accelerator pedal. NOTE: If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above steps again. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-400784-S05337578742011051800000) . Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated and that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off after the engine is warmed up. Standard Condition Engine Idle Speed A/C switched off 600 to 700 RPM NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Make sure that the shift lever is in N. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/ Engine / Data List/ Throttle Sensor Position. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.

INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

REMOVE DUTY VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE Disconnect the 3 vacuum hoses and separate the 2 vacuum hoses from the hose clamp. Disconnect the duty vacuum switching valve connector and the clamp. Remove the bolt. Disconnect the hose from the duty vacuum switching valve and remove the duty vacuum switching valve.

INSPECT FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY Check the operation. Connect the Techstream to DLC3. Start the engine and turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the ACM Inhibit. Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Control the ACM Inhibit ACM ON / OFF Test is possible while engine is idling Check if the front engine mounting insulator assembly operates in accordance with tester operation. Result Condition Specified Condition "Control the ACM Inhibit" is OFF The engine does not move (insulator operation is normal). "Control the ACM Inhibit" is ON The engine moves in accordance with insulator operation. Inspect for vacuum leak. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the front engine mounting insulator assembly. INSPECT F/PMP RELAY Remove the F/PMP relay from the relay block. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 4 No battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms 3 - 5 No battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 4 Battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
INSPECT IG2 RELAY Remove the IG2 relay from the relay block. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 No battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
