- INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance of the oil control valve. Standard Resistance Tester Connection Specified Condition 1 (+B) - 2 (GND) 6.9 to 7.9 ohms at 20°C (68°F) If the result is not as specified, replace the oil control valve assembly. Check the operation. Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check the movement of the valve. OK Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) voltage is applied Valve moves in black arrow direction shown in illustration Battery positive (+) voltage is cut off Valve moves in white arrow direction shown in illustration TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Spool Valve *2 Battery If the result is not as specified, replace the oil control valve. NOTE: Accumulation of foreign matter can cause minor pressure leaks. Minor pressure leaks in the intake side oil control valve will cause the intake camshaft to advance. Minor pressure leaks in the exhaust side oil control valve will cause the exhaust camshaft to retard. The inappropriate camshaft timing that results from these leaks will cause a DTC to be set.
INSTALLATION
- INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY Apply a light coat of engine oil to 4 new O-rings and install them to the 4 camshaft timing oil control valve assemblies. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 O-ring Install the 4 oil control valves with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Make sure that each O-ring is not cracked or does not jump out of position during installation. Connect the 4 oil control valve connectors. Install the bolt and connect the wire harness clamp to install the engine wire. Torque: 14 N*m (138 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

Separate the vacuum hose from the hose clamp. Separate the vacuum switching valve connector and 2 wire harness clamps. Separate the 2 vacuum hoses. Separate the ventilation hose and the fuel vapor feed hose. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Ventilation Hose *2 Fuel Vapor Feed Hose Loosen the hose clamp and separate the air cleaner hose from the throttle body. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the air cleaner assembly.
- REMOVE THROTTLE BODY Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body. Disconnect the throttle body connector and wire harness clamp. Remove the 4 bolts, throttle body and wire harness clamp stay. Remove the gasket from the intake air surge tank assembly.

Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the throttle body connector and wire harness clamp. Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle body.
- INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY Insert the tab of the air cleaner assembly to the hole of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Tab *2 Hole Install the air cleaner assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) Connect the air cleaner hose to the throttle body with the hose clamp. - PERFORM INITIALIZATION NOTE: Perform the following procedure after replacing the ECM, throttle body assembly or any throttle body components. The following procedure should also be performed if the throttle body is cleaned. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Wait at least 60 seconds and reconnect the cable. Turn the engine switch on (IG) without operating the accelerator pedal. NOTE: If the accelerator pedal is operated, perform the above steps again. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3 and clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-400784-S05337578742011051800000) . Start the engine and check that the MIL is not illuminated and that the idle speed is within the specified range when the A/C is switched off after the engine is warmed up. Standard Condition Engine Idle Speed A/C switched off 600 to 700 RPM NOTE: Be sure to perform this step with all accessories off. Make sure that the shift lever is in N. Enter the following menus: Powertrain/ Engine / Data List/ Throttle Sensor Position. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and check that the value is 60% or more. Perform a road test and confirm that there are no abnormalities.

Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 No battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
