TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Nut Recommended service nut Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) NOTE: Install the nuts to prevent damage to the front axle hub bolts. Using SST and a brass bar or an equivalent tool to hold the front axle hub, remove the front axle hub bolt. SST: 09628-10011
- INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT Position a new front axle hub bolt to be installed as shown in the illustration. Temporarily install the new front axle hub bolt to the front axle hub. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Nut *2 Washer Install a washer and nut to the new front axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration. Recommended service nut Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) HINT: The thickness of the washer is preferably 5 mm (0.197 in.) or more. Using a brass bar or an equivalent tool to hold the front axle hub, install the front axle hub bolt by tightening the nut. NOTE: Install the nuts to prevent damage to the front axle hub bolts. Do not damage the threads of the front axle hub bolts. Remove the 3 nuts and washer from the 3 front axle hub bolts.

- REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly and the front axle hub sub-assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Matchmark Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle assembly. HINT: If it is difficult to separate, tap the end of the front drive shaft assembly using a brass bar and a hammer. Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, and separate the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly from the front lower ball joint assembly. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and front axle assembly. NOTE: When removing the nuts, keep the bolts from rotating. Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot or speed sensor rotor.
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with vinyl tape, remove the front No. 1 wheel bearing dust deflector. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Vinyl Tape NOTE: Be careful not to damage the steering knuckle.
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB HOLE SNAP RING Using snap ring pliers, remove the front axle hub hole snap ring.
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY Hold the front axle assembly between aluminum plates in a vise. NOTE: Do not overtighten the vise. Using SST, remove the front axle hub sub-assembly. SST: 09520-00031 Using SST and a press, remove the bearing inner race (outside) from the front axle hub sub-assembly. SST: 09555-55010 SST: 09950-60010 09951-00440 SST: 09950-70010 09951-07100 NOTE: Be careful not to drop the front axle hub sub-assembly.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER Remove the 4 bolts and front disc brake dust cover from the steering knuckle.
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING Place the bearing inner race (outside) on the front axle hub bearing. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Steel Plate *2 V-block Using SST, a steel plate, V-blocks and a press, remove the front axle hub bearing from the steering knuckle. - INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY Align the matchmarks and install the front drive shaft assembly to the front axle hub sub-assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Matchmark Install the front axle assembly to the front shock absorber with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts. Torque: 290 N*m (2957 kgf*cm, 214 ft.*lbf) NOTE: When installing the nuts, keep the bolts from rotating. Install the front lower No. 1 suspension arm sub-assembly to the front lower ball joint assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts. Torque: 92 N*m (938 kgf*cm, 68 ft.*lbf)

Torque: 294 N*m (2998 kgf*cm, 217 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Stake the nut after inspecting for looseness and runout in the following steps. HINT: Keep depressing the brake pedal to prevent the front drive shaft from rotating.

- INSTALL LOWER CONTROL ARM PIN (for TMMC Made) Hold the rear axle carrier sub-assembly between aluminum plates in a vise. NOTE: Do not overtighten the vise. Using SST, install a new lower control arm pin to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly as shown in the illustration. SST: 09650-17011
- TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY Hold the rear axle carrier sub-assembly between aluminum plates in a vise. NOTE: Do not overtighten the vise. Using a brass bar and a hammer, push out the bushing until it is positioned as shown in the illustration. HINT: Pushing out the bushing makes it easier to install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Temporarily tighten the rear axle carrier sub-assembly to the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly with the spacer and nut (A). Fully tighten the rear axle carrier sub-assembly to the rear lower shock absorber bracket sub-assembly with the 2 bolts (D). Torque: 100 N*m (1020 kgf*cm, 74 ft.*lbf) Slowly lower the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.
- TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY Temporarily tighten the parking brake assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the nut. NOTE: Do not twist the parking brake cable when installing the parking brake assembly. Fully tighten the nut after installing the rear trailing arm assembly.

Torque: 19 N*m (192 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not twist the rear flexible hose when installing it. Do not damage the rear flexible hose when reassembling it. If the rear flexible hose is damaged, replace it with a new one. Install the rear flexible hose to the bracket with a new clip. NOTE: Install the clip as far as it will go. Do not twist the rear flexible hose when installing it. Using a union nut wrench, connect the brake line to the rear flexible hose. Torque: 15 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not bend or damage the brake line. Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line. Install the rear differential mount cushion so that the protrusion is positioned as shown in the illustration. Make sure that SST contacts the entire rear differential mount cushion seating surface. Do not slant the SST bolts. Tighten the 2 SST bolts equally into the 2 rear differential mount cushion holes.

- REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION Using SST, remove the rear differential mount cushion. SST: 09570-48010 NOTE: Apply grease to the threads of the SST bolts before use. Do not set SST in the wrong direction. Be sure to use SST in the correct combination. Do not bring SST into contact with the rear suspension member. Do not slant the SST bolts. Tighten the 2 SST bolts equally into the 2 rear differential mount cushion holes.
- INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION Using SST, install a new rear differential mount cushion. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Protrusion - - SST: 09570-48010 (A) 9.8 to 10.8 mm (0.386 to 0.425 in.) (B) +/- 3° NOTE: Apply grease to the threads of the SST bolts before use. Do not set SST in the wrong direction. Be sure to use SST in the correct combination. Install the rear differential mount cushion within +/- 3° from the center. Temporarily install the rear differential mount cushion to the rear suspension member before installing SST to prevent the rear differential mount cushion from being tilted.
