DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU measures the speed of each wheel by receiving signals from the speed sensors. These signals are used to recognize that all 4 wheels are operating properly. Therefore, all wheel signals must be equal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC Check the output DTC (axle system, brake control system, CAN communication system). RESULT CHART Result Proceed to DTC C1348 only is output A CAN communication DTC is output B Brake control system DTC is output B HINT: When DTCs indicating a CAN communication system malfunction are output, repair the CAN communication system before repairing each corresponding sensor. B: REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE A: Go to next step
  2. CHECK TIRE CONDITION Check the size and condition of all 4 tires (See «INSPECTION» ). HINT: This DTC is output when tire deformation or a difference in tire sizes is detected. OK: The diameter and air pressure of all 4 tires are the same. NG REPLACE TIRES SO THAT ALL 4 TIRE ARE THE SAME IN SIZE, OR ADJUST TIRE PRESSURE OK: Go to next step
  3. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Start the engine. Select the "DATA LIST" on the intelligent tester (See «DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST» ). Drive the vehicle several times and check that the speed values detected at all 4 wheels displayed on the intelligent tester are the same. DATA LIST: ABS/TRAC/VSC DATA LIST - ABS/TRAC/VSC Item Measurement Item / Range (Display) Normal Condition FR WHEEL SPD Wheel speed sensor (FR) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed FL WHEEL SPD Wheel speed sensor (FL) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed RR WHEEL SPD Wheel speed sensor (RR) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed RL WHEEL SPD Wheel speed sensor (RL) reading / min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), max.: 202 mph (326.4 km/h) Actual wheel speed OK: The vehicle speed detected at all 4 wheels must be indicated on the intelligent tester. NG: CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT (BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM) OK: Go to next step
  4. RECONFIRM DTC Clear the DTC (See «DTC CHECK / CLEAR» ). Turn the ignition switch off. Start the engine. Drive the vehicle several times at the speed of 18 mph (30 km/h) or more and check that same DTC is output. Result RESULT CHART Result Proceed to DTC (C1348) is output A DTC (C1348) is not output B B: END A: Go to next step REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU

The skid control ECU is connected to the combination meter assembly via CAN and Multiplex communications.

If any of the following is detected, the multi-information display indicates a malfunction in the axle system.

  1. There is a malfunction in the skid control ECU internal circuit.
  2. A low voltage is applied to the power source for the skid control ECU.
  3. There is a malfunction in the CAN communication system.
  4. There is a malfunction in the brake control system.
  5. There is a malfunction in the hybrid control system.
  6. Fail-safe function is operating.
  7. AWD warning illumination demand signal from the HV control ECU is input.
