Front Suspension: Removal & Installation Lexus LX J80

Removal

1. Remove shock absorber. See «SHOCK ABSORBER»(ref-150273-S01528501392002110700000).
2. Jack down and support axle housing.
3. Using special tool 09727-30020, compress the coil spring. (Scheme 5) See «SPECIAL TOOLS»(ref-150273-S41049589922002110700000).
4. Remove the coil spring.

Installation

For installation, reverse removal procedure. Align the coil spring end with the lower seat and install the coil spring.

1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the lateral control rod from axle housing. (Scheme 6)
2. Remove the nut, bolt and lateral control rod. (Scheme 7)

Note. After stabilizing the suspension, torque the bolt.

For installation, reverse removal procedure.

Using special tool 09710-22042 (09710-02051, 09710-02071), 09950-70010 (09951-07150), remove the bushing from the lateral control rod. (Scheme 8) See SPECIAL TOOLS.

Note. Do not use a lubricant when pressing in the bushing.

Using special tool 09710-22042 (09710-02051, 09710-02071), install a new bushing into the lateral control rod. (Scheme 9) See SPECIAL TOOLS.

1. Remove the bolt, plate washer and nut from the leading arm to the frame side. (Scheme 10)
2. Remove the 2 bolts and nuts from the leading arm to the axle housing side. (Scheme 11)
3. Remove the leading arm.

Note. Final tighten bolts after stabilizing the suspension at normal ride height.

For installation, reverse removal procedure.

Removal & Installation

Note. When assembling the bushing (Scheme 12)

Using special tool 09710-30050 for the front side and special tool 09710-22042, (09710-02061) for the rear side and a press, replace the bushing from the leading arm. (Scheme 13)

1. Jack up and support the axle housing. Remove wheel.
2. Hold the piston rod and remove the upper mounting nut. (Scheme 14)
3. Hold the shock absorber, cushions and retainers. (Scheme 15)

For installation, reverse removal procedure.

1. Remove the nut and disconnect the stabilizer bar with the link from the bracket. (Scheme 16)
2. Remove the bolt and nut and remove the stabilizer bar from the axle housing. (Scheme 17)
3. Remove the 2 bolts, cover and cushion from the stabilizer bar.

Note. Final tighten bolts after stabilizing the suspension at normal ride height.

Install the cushions on the lines painted on the stabilizer bar and install the covers onto cushions. (Scheme 18)For installation, reverse removal procedure.
