SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. FRONT WIPER SYSTEM The front wiper system receives the wiper operation signal from the windshield wiper switch, and the windshield wiper ECU operates the front wiper motor. The windshield wiper ECU adjusts the intermittent interval during front wiper motor operation according to commands received from the windshield wiper switch. This adjustment is based on vehicle speed, brake signals, etc., and a determination of the vehicle driving and stopping conditions during the intermittent operation. The system has the following functions: Function Outline Vehicle speed sensing intermittent wiper function* This function controls the intermittent interval of the wipers according to the vehicle speed when the wiper switch is in the INT position. Vehicle speed switching function This function automatically switches the wipers on or off when the vehicle is stopped or starts moving with the wiper switch in the LO position. HINT: *: The vehicle speed sensing intermittent wiper function operates even when the fail-safe function operates due to a malfunction in the auto wiper function.
  2. FRONT WASHER SYSTEM The front washer system receives the wiper operation signal from the windshield wiper switch, and the windshield wiper ECU operates the front washer motor.
  3. CONTINUOUS FRONT WASHER WIPER SYSTEM The continuous front washer system receives the washer operation signal from the windshield wiper switch, and the windshield wiper ECU operates the front wiper motor. The front wipers are operated 3 times after the front washer is stopped. The front wiper stops after operating 3 times from the point where the front washer switch has been on for more than 40 seconds continuously. The front wipers are then operated once at an interval of 3 to 7 seconds. The interval is determined by the vehicle speed signal received from the combination meter.
  4. AUTOMATIC WIPER SYSTEM In the automatic wiper system, the rain sensor mounted in the upper portion of the windshield sends a front wiper operation command, based on the amount of rainfall, to the windshield wiper ECU. The front wipers operate when the windshield wiper switch is in the AUTO position. The rain sensor sensitivity can be adjusted with the rain sensor adjusting switch. In this system, the windshield wiper ECU receives the vehicle speed signal from the combination meter, and operates the front wipers according to the vehicle speed. The windshield wiper ECU adjusts the intermittent interval during wiper motor operation according to commands received from the rain sensor. This adjustment is based on vehicle speed, etc., and a determination of the vehicle driving and stopping conditions during the intermittent operation.
  5. HEADLIGHT CLEANER SYSTEM The headlight cleaner system operates when the headlights are on and the headlight cleaner switch is pushed on.
  6. REAR WIPER SYSTEM In the rear wiper system, a rear wiper operation signal is sent from the windshield wiper switch to the No. 2 main body ECU. The No. 2 main body ECU receives the rear wiper operation signal and operates the rear wiper.
  7. REVERSE-LINKED SYSTEM In the reverse-linked system, with the front wipers operating, the reverse position signal is sent from the ECM to the No. 2 main body ECU. The No. 2 main body ECU receives the reverse position signal and operates the rear wiper once.

DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper ECU controls the wiper motor.

NOTE: When a Body No. 5 (windshield wiper ECU) related front wiper switch is on, Active Test items related to the front wiper switch are prohibited (double operation prohibition). Check that the front wiper switches are off before performing Active Test. The windshield wiper ECU receives the HI position signal of the wiper switch to operate the wiper motor at HI speed. Even if the ECU malfunctions, its circuit structure enables it to operate the wiper in HI operation mode.

The auto wiper system adjusts the wiper speed to the optimum speed based on the amount of rain. The rain sensor mounted on the windshield detects rainfall. This system operates when the windshield wiper switch is set to AUTO. The rain sensor sensitivity can be adjusted with the rain sensor adjusting switch. Signals are sent to the windshield wiper ECU from the windshield wiper switch through the CAN line, and from the rains sensor through the LIN line. Based on these signals, the windshield wiper ECU operates the wiper and determines its operation speed.
