- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
- DISCONNECT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the connector from the speed sensor. NOTE: Do not twist the speed sensor wire.
- DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Remove the bolt and disconnect the flexible hose from the steering knuckle. Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake caliper assembly LH. NOTE: Hang the front disc brake caliper assembly with a rope or wire. Do not damage the brake hose.
- REMOVE FRONT DISC (See «REMOVAL»(ref-349719-S21827681662009120800000) )
- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Remove the 4 bolts and front disc brake dust cover LH.
- DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH (See «REMOVAL»(ref-349733-S36942300362009120800000) )
- DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Remove the clip and nut. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the front No. 1 suspension lower arm assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (0996+1-02050) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer A) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm or less. Using SST, disconnect the No. 1 suspension arm from the steering knuckle. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010) NOTE: Do not damage the dust cover. As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel. Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
- DISCONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Remove the bolt, and then remove the bracket of the front height control sensor LH.
- REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Remove the 2 nuts and front stabilizer link assembly LH. HINT: If the stud bolt turns with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.
- DISCONNECT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH Remove the bolt and nut, and then disconnect the bottom side of the front shock absorber assembly LH from the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH.
- DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010, 09961-02050) Remove the clip and nut. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the front No. 2 suspension lower arm assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02050) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer A) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm or less. Using SST, disconnect the front No. 2 suspension lower arm from the steering knuckle. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010) NOTE: Do not damage the dust cover. As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel. Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
- REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH SST 09960-20010 (09961-02060, 09961-02010) Support the steering knuckle LH with a jack and wooden block. Remove the 2 clips and 2 nuts. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the front No. 1 suspension upper arm assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02060) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer B) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm or less. Using SST, disconnect the front No. 1 suspension upper arm from the steering knuckle. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010) NOTE: Do not damage the dust cover. As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel. - REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Remove the 4 bolts and front axle hub from the steering knuckle.

- INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Install the front axle hub to the steering knuckle with the 4 bolts. Torque: 65 N*m (663 kgf*cm, 48 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Install the steering knuckle to the front No. 1 suspension upper arm LH and front No. 2 suspension upper arm LH with the nuts. Torque: 60 N*m (612 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf) Install new clips. NOTE: If it is necessary to align the holes for the clips after installing the nuts, the nuts can be tightened up to 60° more.
- CONNECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Connect the front No. 2 suspension lower arm assembly LH to the steering knuckle with the nut. Torque: 145 N*m (1479 kgf*cm, 107 ft.*lbf) Install a new clip. NOTE: If it is necessary to align the holes for the clip after installing the nut, the nut can be tightened up to 60° more.
- CONNECT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH Install the bottom side of the front shock absorber assembly LH to the No. 2 suspension lower arm LH. Then insert the bolt from the rear of the vehicle and temporarily install it with the nut. Torque: 108 N*m (1101 kgf*cm, 80 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Install the front stabilizer link with the 2 nuts. Torque: 84 N*m (857 kgf*cm, 62 ft.*lbf) HINT: If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud.
- CONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Install the bracket of the front height control sensor LH to the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH with the bolt. Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
- CONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH Connect the No. 1 suspension lower arm to the steering knuckle with the nut. Torque: 145 N*m (1479 kgf*cm, 107 ft.*lbf) Install a new clip. NOTE: If it is necessary to align the holes for the clip after installing the nut, the nut can be tightened up to 60° more.
- CONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-349733-S30676435532009120800000) )
- INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Install the front disc brake dust cover LH with the 4 bolts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)

- CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Install the front disc brake caliper assembly LH to the steering knuckle with the new 2 bolts. Torque: 135 N*m (1377 kgf*cm, 100 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not twist the flexible hose. Make sure the screw parts are free from foreign matter and are not damaged. Be careful not to overtighten the bolts, as the steering knuckle is made of aluminum. Connect the flexible hose to the steering knuckle with the bolt. Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
- CONNECT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR Connect the speed sensor connector to the speed sensor. NOTE: Do not damage the tip of the speed sensor. Do not allow foreign matter to contact the tip or installation area of the speed sensor. Do not twist the speed sensor wire. Install the speed sensor wire to the front No. 1 suspension lower arm with the 2 bolts. Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf)
- INSTALL FRONT WHEEL Torque: 140 N*m (1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf)
- INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT Inspect and adjust the front wheel alignment (SP-5).
- CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL Check the speed sensor signal (BC-47).
- ADJUST HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY Adjust the headlight aiming (See «ADJUSTMENT»(ref-349731-S09246046722009120800000) ).

NOTE: Ensure that the dial indicator is set at a right angle to the measurement surface. If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.
- INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT Using a dial indicator, measure the runout on the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt. Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.00197 in.) NOTE: Ensure that the dial indicator is set at a right angle to the measurement surface. If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub.

- REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the front axle shaft nut. SST 09930-00010 NOTE: Release the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the threads of the drive shaft may be damaged.
- DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Remove the bolt and disconnect the flexible hose from the steering knuckle. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect front disc brake caliper. NOTE: Hang the front disc brake caliper assembly with a rope or wire. Do not damage the brake hose.

- REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Remove the 4 bolts and dust cover.
- DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE Disconnect the front speed sensor connector. NOTE: Do not twist the skid control sensor wire. Remove the bolt and sensor clamp.
- REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH Remove the bolt and speed sensor from the steering knuckle. NOTE: Do not damage the tip of the speed sensor. Do not allow foreign matter to contact the tip or installation area of the speed sensor.
- DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH Remove the clip and nut. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the tie rod assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.0394 in.) between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02060) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer B) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.). Using SST, disconnect the tie rod assembly from the steering knuckle. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010) NOTE: Do not damage the dust cover. As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and claw are the parallel. - REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Remove the 3 bolts. Then disconnect the steering knuckle from the front lower ball joint. Using a plastic-faced hammer, lightly tap the end of the front drive shaft to remove the front axle hub and steering knuckle from the front drive shaft. HINT: If the spline connection is tight, using a brass bar and hammer, tap the front drive shaft. While supporting the drive shaft, remove the steering knuckle LH. NOTE: Do not damage the drive shaft outboard joint boot. Suspend the drive shaft assembly with a rope or wire. Be careful when handling or installing the drive shaft as bending or sliding the drive shaft excessively may cause the tripod joint to come out of its groove.
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Remove the 4 bolts and front axle hub from the steering knuckle.

Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign objects. Using a 30 mm socket wrench, install a new axle shaft nut. Torque: 294 N*m (2998 kgf*cm, 217 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not stake the shaft nut. HINT: Stake the shaft nut after the axle hub bearing looseness and axle hub runout inspections.

Scheme 47
- INSPECT STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration. Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the fifth turn. Standard turning torque: 0.5 to 6.0 N*m (5 to 61 kgf*cm, 4 to 53 in.*lbf) If the value is not within the specified range, replace the steering knuckle with a new one. Check the dust boot for cracks or grease leakage.

- REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Remove the 3 bolts. Then disconnect the steering knuckle from the front lower ball joint. Using a plastic-faced hammer, lightly tap the end of the front drive shaft to remove the front axle hub and steering knuckle from the front drive shaft. HINT: If the spline connection is tight, using a brass bar and hammer, tap the front drive shaft.
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Remove the 4 bolts and front axle hub from the steering knuckle.

- DISCONNECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Remove the bolt and nut, and then disconnect the rear stabilizer link assembly LH from the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly LH.
- REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT LH NUT Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the rear axle shaft LH nut. SST 09930-00010 NOTE: Release the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged. While applying the brakes, remove the rear axle shaft LH nut.
- DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly. NOTE: Hang the caliper with wire or equivalent. Do not damage the brake hose.
- DISCONNECT SPEED SENSOR REAR LH Remove the 2 bolts and rear speed sensor.

Remove the nut, washer, bolt and No. 2 suspension arm from the axle carrier. Remove the nut, rear suspension attachment sub-assembly, and rear No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate. Then remove the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.
- DISCONNECT REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH Remove the nut from the rear No. 1 suspension arm. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the rear No. 1 suspension arm so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02060) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer B) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm or less. Using SST, disconnect the rear No. 1 suspension arm from the axle carrier. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010) NOTE: Do not damage the ball joint dust cover. As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel. Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
- DISCONNECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Remove the nut on the rear axle carrier side. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the toe control link so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02060) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer B) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm or less. Using SST, disconnect the toe control link from the axle carrier. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010) NOTE: Do not damage the ball joint dust cover. As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel. Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
- DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH Remove the nut on the rear axle carrier side. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the rear upper No. 1 control arm so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02050) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer A) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm or less. Using SST, disconnect the upper No. 1 control arm from the axle carrier. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02010) NOTE: Do not damage the ball joint dust cover. As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel. Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
- DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH Remove the nut on the rear axle carrier side. Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the rear upper No. 2 control arm so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm between the arm and spacers. SST 09960-20010 (09961-02050) NOTE: Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer A) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift. As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm or less. Using SST, disconnect the upper No. 2 control arm from the axle carrier. - REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH Using a plastic-faced hammer, separate the drive shaft from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Remove the rear axle assembly. NOTE: Be careful not to damage the boots. Use a wire or an equivalent to keep the rear drive shaft assembly from hanging down.
- REMOVE REAR NO. 1 WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR LH Using a screwdriver, remove the bearing dust deflector from the rear axle carrier. NOTE: Be careful not to dent or damage the axle carrier, as it is made of aluminum.
- REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH Hold the axle hub and bearing in a vise between aluminum plates. NOTE: Do not overtighten the vise. Remove the 4 bolts and axle hub and bearing from the rear axle carrier. Remove the 2 nuts, parking brake anchor block, parking brake cable support bracket, and parking brake plate from the rear axle carrier.

- INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH Engage the spline part of the rear axle carrier to the spline part of the driver shaft assembly. Using a jack, lift up the rear axle carrier, and align the installation positions of each arm. NOTE: Place a wooden block between the jack and rear axle carrier to prevent damage.
