EXCEPT IS300 & LS430 (WITH AIR SUSPENSION)

  1. Before adjusting wheel alignment, measure riding height. Measure riding height with vehicle on level surface and tires properly inflated. Bounce vehicle several times to allow suspension to settle. (Scheme 1)or (Scheme 2).
  2. Visually inspect vehicle for abnormal height difference from front to rear and from side to side. Remove heavy items from passenger and luggage compartments.
  3. Measure riding height. See «RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S27770216752001110500000) table. If riding height is not within specification, inspect suspension components. Repair or replace as necessary.

RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS

IS300

  1. Measure from ground to front of No. 1 lower suspension arm mounting bolt center (dimension "A"). (Scheme 3) Measure from ground to center of front wheel (dimension "B"). Subtract dimension "A" from dimension "B" for front ride height measurement. See «RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S27770216752001110500000) table.
  2. Measure from ground to center of rear wheel (dimension "C"). (Scheme 3) Measure from ground to No. 2 lower suspension arm mounting bolt center (dimension "D"). Subtract dimension "D" from dimension "C" for rear ride height measurement. See «RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S27770216752001110500000) table.

Scheme 4: LS430 (WITH AIR SUSPENSION)

Scheme 5

Scheme 5
  1. Set height control switch to NORM position. Bounce vehicle up and down several times to stabilize suspension. Push vehicle forward and backward to settle tires.
  2. Block wheels. Place transmission in Neutral. Release parking brake. Start engine. Set height control switch to HIGH position. After one minute, with vehicle height in raised position, set height control switch back to NORM position. Wait 50 seconds and repeat this step again.
  3. Measure vehicle riding height. (Scheme 2) See «RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S27770216752001110500000) table. If riding height is not as specified, adjust vehicle riding height by rotating height control sensor link.
  4. To adjust front height control sensor link, loosen 2 lock nuts on height control sensor link. Rotate height control sensor link bolt to adjust length. Length adjustment for front height control sensor link is 2.36" (59.3 mm). See dimension "A" in (Scheme 4). NOTE: Rotating height control sensor link bolt one complete turn changes vehicle height about.20" (5 mm).
  5. Ensure height control sensor link dimension "B" is less than.75" (19 mm). (Scheme 4)
  6. After adjustment, temporarily tighten lock nuts. Measure vehicle riding height. Readjust if necessary. Tighten lock nuts. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S19447670472001110500000). Ensure ball joint and bracket are parallel when tightening lock nut.
  7. To adjust rear ride height, loosen nut on rear height control sensor arm. (Scheme 5) Moving link arm approximately.04" (1.0 mm) changes vehicle ride height by.08" (2.0 mm). After adjustment, temporarily tighten lock nut. Measure vehicle riding height. Readjust if necessary. Tighten lock nut. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S19447670472001110500000)

JACKING & HOISTING

WARNINGOn LS430 with air suspension, air suspension system needs to be disabled before jacking or hoisting, or suspension could be damaged. See DISABLING AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM (LS430) .

DISABLING AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM (LS430)

Turn ignition off when jacking or hoisting vehicle. If it is necessary to have ignition on (engine running) when jacking or hoisting vehicle, connect a jumper wire between Data Link Connector No. 3 (DLC3) terminals Tc and CG. DLC3 is located unde left side of instrument panel. (Scheme 6) Turn ignition switch ON and raise vehicle.

  1. Ensure rear camber is correct. See «CAMBER ADJUSTMENT»(ref-128751-S16479661922001110500000) under WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROCEDURES. Bounce both ends of vehicle several times to settle suspension. Adjust lengths of adjuster tubes so both are equal within.04" (1.0 mm). (Scheme 17)
  2. Measure toe-in. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S05645519982001110500000). If necessary, adjust length of each adjuster tube equally to adjust toe-in.

Scheme 17

Scheme 17

Rear Suspension (GS300, GS430, IS300 & LS430)

Toe-in is adjusted together with camber. See CAMBER ADJUSTMENT under WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROCEDURES.

Scheme 18

Scheme 18: Rear Suspension (RX300)
  1. Measure distance between wheel disc and corner of toe-adjusting cam. (Scheme 18) Ensure difference of left and right side is.12" (3.0 mm) or less. If adjustment is necessary, loosen adjusting cam lock bolt and rotate adjuster cam as necessary.

TOE-OUT ON TURNS

  1. Ensure steering wheel is in straight-ahead position. Raise front of vehicle. Place turning radius gauges beneath front wheels. Lower front of vehicle.
  2. Rotate steering wheel fully right and left, observing turning radius on both wheels. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-128751-S05645519982001110500000) .
