With Or Without Memory

  1. Remove tilt and telescopic control module. With ignition off, measure voltage between connector T8, terminal No. 4 and ground. (Scheme 6)and (Scheme 7). If voltage is not 10-16 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10-16 volts, go to «TROUBLE SHOOTING»(ref-34398-S19817155692001101500000) and identify next circuit to be checked.
  2. Measure resistance between connector T8, terminal No. 7 and ground. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is not less than one ohm, repair open in White/Black wire between control module connector T8, terminal No. 7 and ground. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-34398-S20418267542001101500000).
  3. Check continuity of 30 amp PWR fusible link. If continuity does not exist, check and repair short between control module connector T8, terminal No. 4 and fuse block. If continuity does not exist, check for open between control module connector T8, terminal No. 4 and fuse block.

With Memory

  1. Remove tilt and telescopic control module and leave harness connectors connected. With ignition on, measure voltage between tilt and telescopic control module connector T9, terminal No. 12 and ground. (Scheme 6)and (Scheme 7). Voltage should be 10-16 volts with ignition on and less than one volt with ignition off. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, go to «TROUBLE SHOOTING»(ref-34398-S19817155692001101500000) and identify next circuit to be checked.
  2. Check 10 amp GAUGE fuse in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is okay, check for open Red/Blue wire between fuse block and tilt and telescopic control module connector. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-34398-S20418267542001101500000). If fuse is blown, check and repair for short in Red/Blue wire.

Without Memory

  1. Remove tilt and telescopic control module and leave harness connectors connected. With ignition on, measure voltage between tilt and telescopic control module connector T9, terminal No. 10 and ground.
  1. Remove tilt and telescopic control module and leave harness connectors connected. Insert key into ignition but do not turn ignition on. Measure voltage between tilt and telescopic control module connector T9, terminal No. 8 and ground. (Scheme 6)and (Scheme 7). Voltage should be less than one volt with key in ignition and 10-16 volts with key removed from ignition. If voltage is as specified, go to «TROUBLE SHOOTING»(ref-34398-S19817155692001101500000) and identify next circuit to be checked. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
