DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
| WARNING | Vehicle is equipped with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Before servicing, disconnect and shield negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds to allow back-up power supply to be depleted. DO NOT use electrical test equipment on SRS circuits. Use caution when working around steering column, as air bag could deploy. |
Instrument cluster uses analog (needle-type) speedometer, tachometer and gauges. A power source unit (printed circuit) on back of instrument cluster conducts current between components. Cold cathode ray tubes are used to backlight the instrument cluster. see scheme 17
| WARNING | If cover from rear of instrument cluster is removed, screw heads and connectors "N", "P" and "Q" will be exposed. (Scheme 1) These screw heads and connectors are part of cold cathode tubes in the cluster. If power is supplied to cluster (ignition on and connectors attached), DO NOT touch these connectors and screw heads because they are electrically charged with high AC voltage. |
