PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT FUSE (AM2) Remove the AM2 fuse from the cowl side J/B RH. Measure the resistance of the fuse. Standard resistance Below 1 ohms NG --> REPLACE FUSE OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK CONNECTORS Check that the connectors are securely connected and the terminals are not deformed or loose. OK The connectors are securely connected and the terminals are not deformed or loose. NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE CONNECTORS OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the J55 ECU connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J55-33 (AM1) - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V J55-12 (AM2) - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J55-6 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  4. INSPECT RELAY (IG2) Remove the IG2 relay from the engine room R/B No. 2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection Specified Condition 3 - 5 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Below 1 ohms (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2) NG --> See step 10 OK: Go to next step
  5. INSPECT JUNCTION BLOCK RH-IG relay: Disconnect the cowl side J/B RH connectors. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition RD-6 - RA-5 or RD-7 Always 136 to 250 ohms at 20°C (68°F) RD-6 - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher LH-IG relay: Disconnect the cowl side J/B LH connectors. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition LD-13 - LD-8 or LD-9 Always 68 to 250 ohms at 20°C (68°F) LD-13 - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> See step 10 OK: Go to next step
  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J55-34 (IG1D) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher J55-35 (IG2D) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> See step 11 OK: Go to next step
  7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COWL SIDE J/B LH - BODY GROUND) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition LD-13 - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> See step 11 OK: Go to next step
  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) Reconnect the J55 ECU and J/B connectors. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J55-34 (IG1D) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V J55-35 (IG2D) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V NG --> REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU OK: Go to next step
  9. RECHECK FOR DTC Delete the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606505-S09012254002014032500000) . Check for DTCs again. OK DTC B2271 is not output. NG --> REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU OK --> CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
  10. REPLACE FAULTY RELAY OR J/B AND CHECK POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU Replace a faulty relay or J/B and then connect the power source control ECU connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J55-34 (IG1D) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V J55-35 (IG2D) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 V Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V NG --> REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU OK --> END
  11. REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR AND CHECK POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU Repair or replace a faulty wire harness or connector and then connect the power source control ECU connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection Specified Condition 3 - 5 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Below 1 ohms (when battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2) NG --> See step 8 OK: Go to next step
  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ENGINE ROOM R/B NO. 2 - POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition Engine room R/B No. 2 IG2 relay terminal 2 - J55-35 (IG2D) Always Below 1 ohms Engine room R/B No. 2 IG2 relay terminal 1 - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms Engine room R/B No. 2 IG2 relay terminal 2 or J55-35 (IG2D) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher Install the IG2 relay.   1. CHECK FOR DTCS Delete the DTC. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606505-S09012254002014032500000) . HINT: After all DTCs are cleared, turn the engine switch on (IG). After 25 seconds have elapsed, check if the trouble occurs again. Check for DTCs again. OK DTC B2285 is not output. HINT: If DTC B2285 is output, perform troubleshooting for DTC B2285 first. Refer to «DTC B2285: Steering Lock Position Signal Circuit Malfunction»(ref-606530-S18312930732014032500000) . NG --> GO TO DTC CHART OK: Go to next step

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING LOCK ECU - POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the J29 ECU connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J29-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms J29-4 (SLP1) - J55-26 (SLP) Always Below 1 ohms J29-4 (SLP1) or J55-26 (SLP) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  7. INSPECT POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU Reconnect the J55 ECU connector. Connect the oscilloscope to the power source control ECU terminals specified in the table below and check the waveform. Item Contents Terminal (Symbols) J55-26 (SLP) - Body ground Equipment Setting 2 V/DIV, 100 ms/DIV Condition Engine switch on (IG) OK The waveform appears as shown in the illustration. HINT: The waveform varies depending on the contents of communication. NG --> REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU OK: Go to next step
  8. INSPECT STEERING LOCK ECU Reconnect the J29 ECU connector. Connect the oscilloscope to the power source control ECU terminals specified in the table below and check the waveform. Item Contents Terminal (Symbols) J55-26 (SLP) - Body ground Equipment Setting 2 V/DIV, 100 ms/DIV Condition Steering is LOCK / UNLOCK OK The waveform appears as shown in the illustration. HINT: The waveform varies depending on the contents of communication. NG --> REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU OK: Go to next step
  9. INSPECT POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU Disconnect the A5 ECM connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J55-39 (STSW) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed, Engine switch off Below 1 V Brake pedal depressed, Engine switch on (IG) 8 to 14 V NG --> REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU OK --> REPLACE ECM

  4. INSPECT ECM Reconnect the A5 ECM connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition J55-31 (CTSW) - Body ground Always 8 to 14 V NG --> REPLACE ECM OK: Go to next step
  5. INSPECT POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU Reconnect the J55 ECU connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Terminal No. (Symbol) Condition Specified condition J55-31 (CTSW) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed, Engine switch on (ST) 0.1 to 0.8 V (*1) HINT: *1: Voltage is output only when the engine is cranking. NG --> REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU OK --> CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
  1. CHECK FOR WATER DAMAGE Check the power source control ECU, peripheral components, and wire harnesses for traces of water. OK There are no traces of water. NG --> TAKE APPROPRIATE MEASURES AGAINST CAUSE OF WATER DAMAGE AND REPLACE POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND) Disconnect the ECU connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Scheme 95: DESCRIPTION
  1. ENGINE START SYSTEM OPERATION If the engine switch is pressed with the shift lever in P or N and the brake pedal depressed, the power source control ECU determines that it is an engine start request. The certification ECU and other ECUs perform key verification via the LIN communication line. The power source control ECU activates the ACC relay. The power source control ECU activates the IG1 and IG2 relays. The engine switch indicator light turns green. The certification ECU outputs a steering UNLOCK signal. The signal is sent to the steering lock ECU via the power source control ECU. The power source control ECU sends an engine start request signal to the ECM. The ECM sends an ACC cut request signal to the power source control ECU. The ECM and power source control ECU activate the ST relay. The power source control ECU deactivates the ACC relay until the ECU detects an engine start. When engine revolution speed reaches 200 rpm, the power source control ECU determines that the engine has been started. The ECU reactivates the ACC relay and turns off the engine switch indicator light.   3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER SOURCE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) Disconnect the J55 ECU connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
