PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK FOR DTC Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606516-S34187361022014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 2 OK --> See step 9
  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant classification ECU and the front seat inner belt RH. OK Connectors are properly connected. NG --> CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK CONNECTOR Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and front seat inner belt RH. Check that the connectors (on the occupant classification ECU side and front seat inner belt RH side) are not damaged. OK Connectors are not deformed or damaged. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester connection Switch Condition Specified condition T16-13 (BSW) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V T16-14 (BGND) - Body ground Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 (RBE-) and 2 (RBE+) of connector C. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard resistance Tester connection Condition Specified condition T16-13 (BSW) - T16-14 (BGND) Always Below 1 ohms Disconnect the service wire from connector C. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   5. CHECK FOR DTC Connect the connectors to the occupant classification ECU and the front seat inner belt RH. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606516-S34187361022014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 6 OK --> See step 9
  6. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH) Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Replace the front seat inner belt RH. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606331-S09511430342014032500000) . HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606516-S34187361022014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 7 OK --> END
  7. REPLACE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, save the ECU data from the ECU which has been installed on the vehicle. Refer to «REGISTRATION [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S27840752162014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Front seat (for power seat) Replace the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606514-S00069638762014032500000) . Front seat (for manual seat) Replace the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606514-S11628009312014032500000) . Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, load the previous ECU data stored into the new ECU. Refer to «REGISTRATION [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S27840752162014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . HINT: If DTC is not cleared at this time, past DTC will remain. NEXT: Go to next step
  8. PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK Perform the sensitivity check. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S09846203222014032500000) . NEXT --> END

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant classification ECU and the seat belt tension sensor. OK Connectors are properly connected. NG --> CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK CONNECTOR Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and the seat belt tension sensor. Check that the connectors (on the occupant classification ECU side and seat belt tension sensor side) are not damaged. OK Connectors are not deformed or damaged. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard voltage Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition T16-8 (GBT) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) Below 1 V T16-16 (BT) - Body ground T16-17 (VBT) - Body ground Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Using 2 service wires, connect terminals 1 (GBT) and 3 (BT), and connect terminals 1 (GBT) and 2 (VBT) of connector C. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert the service wires into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606516-S34187361022014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for the DTCs.   6. REPLACE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR) Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Replace the front seat outer belt RH. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606331-S12710757422014032500000) . HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606516-S34187361022014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for the DTCs.   7. REPLACE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, save the ECU data from the ECU which has been installed on the vehicle. Refer to «REGISTRATION [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S27840752162014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Front seat (for power seat) Replace the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606514-S00069638762014032500000) . Front seat (for manual seat) Replace the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606514-S11628009312014032500000) . Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, load the previous ECU data stored into the new ECU. Refer to «REGISTRATION [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S27840752162014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . HINT: If DTC is not cleared at this time, past DTC will remain. NEXT: Go to next step

  6. REPLACE FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR) Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds. Front seat (for power seat) Replace the front seat cushion (with occupant classification ECU and occupant detection sensor). Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606514-S00069638762014032500000) . HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible. Front seat (for manual seat) Replace the front seat cushion (with occupant classification ECU and occupant detection sensor). Refer to «REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606514-S11628009312014032500000) . HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery. Turn the engine switch on (IG).   7. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform the zero point calibration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S09846203222014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . HINT: If DTC is not cleared at this time, past DTC will remain. NEXT: Go to next step
  8. CHECK FOR DTC HINT: Check that the zero point calibration is completed normally. If any of the following conditions is met, DTC B1797 will be output (refer to INITIALIZATION. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S09846203222014032500000) ): Zero point calibration is performed when the conditions for the calibration are not satisfied. Zero point calibration has failed. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606570-S04817391202014032500000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2012 - ]»(ref-606516-S34187361022014032500000) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for the DTCs.
