SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. GENERAL This system has the following functions: manual slide open and close; auto slide open and close; manual tilt up and down; jam protection; key off operation; key-linked open and close; and transmitter-linked open and close.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT SYSTEM COMPONENT DESCRIPTION Component Outline Sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (Sliding roof ECU) Sliding roof ECU controls sliding roof motor to rotate forward and backward, which tilts or slides sliding roof glass. Overhead junction block Output of operation signals from built-in sliding roof switch to sliding roof ECU are handled by overhead junction block.
  3. SYSTEM OPERATION The sliding roof has the following features. SYSTEM FUNCTION OPERATION DESCRIPTION Function Outline Manual open-and-close This function opens or closes the sliding roof in 7 stages according to the sliding roof dial switch position. One-touch auto open-and-close Pushing the sliding roof dial switch once enables the sliding roof to be opened to the comfort stop position or fully closed. If the dial switch is pushed again during the sliding roof open or close operation, the sliding roof will stop the operation. One-touch auto tilt up-and-down Turning the sliding roof dial switch to the TILT UP or DOWN position enables the sliding roof to be fully tilted up or down. Jam protection The "jam protection" function automatically stops the sliding roof and moves it open half way (or fully tilt up) if a foreign object gets jammed in the sliding roof during close or tilt down operation. Key-off operation The "key-off operation" function makes it possible to operate the sliding roof for approx. 43 seconds after the engine switch is turned to the on (ACC) or off, if the front doors are not opened. Key-linked open-and-close Function When key is not in vehicle, the driver's door is locked, and the key in the driver's door is turned and maintained in the lock direction for 1.5 seconds or more, the sliding roof ECU activates the sliding roof motor to close the moon roof while the key is turned. Similarly, when the driver's door is unlocked, turning and maintaining the driver's door key in the unlock direction for 2.5 seconds or more will cause the moon roof to be opened. Transmitter-linked open function When the power window master switch receives an unlock signal from the transmitter continuously for longer than 3.4 seconds, the sliding roof ECU control the sliding roof motor in accordance with the signal to open the moon roof. Sliding roof open warning When the engine switch is turned from on (IG) to off and the driver door is opened with the sliding roof open, the buzzer in the combination meter sounds once. Then, the warning message appears on the multi-information display.

DESCRIPTION

The sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) receives slide switch and tilt switch signals and drives its built-in motor.
