DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

Normal Operation
- Lock Operation - When the lock SW on the transmitter is pressed, all the doors are locked.
- Unlock Operation - When the unlock SW on the transmitter is pressed once, only the driver door is unlocked. When the unlock SW is pressed again within 3 seconds, all the doors are unlocked.
- Luggage Compartment Door Opener Operation (Sedan) - When the luggage compartment door opener SW on the transmitter is pressed, the luggage door is opened.
Illuminated Entry Operation
When the body ECU detects that any door is unlocked, the interior light, ignition key cylinder light and front LH and RH door courtesy lights comes on.
SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
- Trouble shooting of a remote keyless entry system complaint begins with verification of the customer problem. If problem occurs, go to step 3 . If problem does not occur, go to next step.
- If problem does not occur, review conditions under which problem occurred for customer and try to duplicate those conditions. For example, if the problem occurs on rainy days or during high humidity conditions, sprinkle water onto vehicle and see if malfunction occurs. DO NOT sprinkle water directly into engine compartment or onto electronic components. Visually inspect for signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Inspect for blown fuses and damaged relays. Inspect for loose or corroded connections, damaged wiring harnesses and/or switches. Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed. If fault is found, repair as necessary.
- Inspect the multiplex communication system and confirm that there is no trouble by the basic inspection and DTC check. See PRE-CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC under «MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM»(ref-154087) article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Trouble shooting of the remote keyless entry system is based on the premise that the door lock control system is operating normally. Inspect the door lock control system to make sure that it is operating normally. - Determine problem symptom. See «PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX»(ref-154970-S27530225762003060400000) . (2) Check the transmitter. See «WIRELESS DOOR LOCK TRANSMITTER»(ref-154970-S40459980482003060300000) under COMPONENT TESTS. (3) Check the wireless door lock control receiver. See «WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL RECEIVER CIRCUIT»(ref-154970-S33220587192003060300000) under CIRCUIT TESTS. (4) Check the wire harness. (5) Check the body ECU. See appropriate BODY CONTROL SYSTEM article. (6) If the trouble still reappears even though there are no abnormalities in any of the other circuits, check and replace the wireless door lock control receiver as the last step. - After repairs have been completed, confirm that problem has been eliminated. Operate the system under same conditions recorded for original complaint. If problem is no longer present, repair has corrected problem. If problem is still present, further diagnosis and repair is required.
