DESCRIPTION
The passenger side buckle switch circuit consists of the occupant classification ECU and the front seat inner belt assembly RH.
DTC B1771 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the passenger side buckle switch circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
- If troubleshooting (wire harness inspection) is difficult to perform, remove the front passenger seat installation bolts to access the undersurface of the seat cushion.
- In the above case, hold the seat so that it does not fall down. Holding the seat for a long period of time may damage the seat or deform the seat rails. Hold the seat only as necessary.

- CHECK CONNECTORS Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant classification ECU and the front seat inner belt assembly RH. OK The connectors are properly connected. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and the front seat inner belt assembly RH. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged. OK The terminals are not deformed or damaged. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
- CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. - INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the front seat inner belt assembly RH with a known good part. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/restraints-control-systems/#seat-belt-service-information) . HINT: Perform an inspection using known good parts from another vehicle if possible. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__dtc-check-clear) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. - REPLACE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, save the ECU data from the ECU currently installed on the vehicle. Refer to «REGISTRATION»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__registration) . Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/restraints-control-systems/#supplemental-restraint-system-service-information) . Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, load the previous ECU data stored into the new ECU. Refer to «REGISTRATION»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__registration) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__dtc-check-clear) . HINT: If the DTCs are not cleared at this time, past DTC will remain. NEXT: Go to next step

The seat belt tension sensor circuit consists of the occupant classification ECU and the seat belt tension sensor.
The seat belt tension sensor sends the seat belt tension signal to the occupant classification ECU.
DTC B1773 and B1776 are recorded when a malfunction is detected in the seat belt tension sensor circuit.

The occupant classification sensor sends the pressure signal to the occupant classification ECU.

- PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform the zero point calibration. The occupant classification system detects the front passenger seat condition. It then informs the front passenger airbag, front passenger side knee airbag, front seat side airbag RH and front seat belt pretensioner RH condition (activated/not activated) by the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.
HINT
Approximately 6 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG), the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator will be ON/OFF depending on the conditions listed below.

HINT
When the indicator is malfunctioning, if the SRS warning light is off, follow the procedures below as a DTC is not output. If the SRS warning light is on, a DTC is output. Troubleshoot for the output DTC.
- PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform the zero point calibration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__initialization) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__dtc-check-clear) . HINT: If the DTCs are not cleared at this time, past DTCs will remain. NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK DTC Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__dtc-check-clear) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/restraints-control-systems/#supplemental-restraint-system-diagnostics-introduction) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs of the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__dtc-check-clear) . OK DTC B1797 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1797 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 10 OK: Go to next step
- CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR (PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK) Perform the sensitivity check. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__initialization) . NG --> See step 4 OK --> END
- READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE SWITCH) Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, read the Data List. Refer to «DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__data-list-active-test) . Read the the display when the passenger side buckle switch is operated. Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Passenger Buckle SW Buckle switch (Passenger side)/ Unset: The seat belt is not fastened Set: The seat belt is fastened NG: Data is not determined Unset/Set - OK The tester display changes correctly in accordance with the operation of the buckle switch. - READ VALUE USING DATA LIST (SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR) Fasten the passenger side seat belt. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, read the value of the Data List. Refer to «DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__data-list-active-test) . Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Filtered Pressure Sensor Output Filtered belt tension output/ Min.: 0 Max.: 255 39 to 64 (no load) - OK When there is no tension on the belt, 39 to 64 is displayed on the Techstream. NG --> See step 12 OK: Go to next step
- CHECK CONNECTORS Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and the occupant classification sensor. Check that the terminals of connectors are not damaged. OK The terminals are not deformed or damaged. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
- REPLACE FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY Turn the engine switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the front seat cushion assembly (with occupant classification ECU and occupant classification sensor). Refer to «REMOVAL»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/restraints-control-systems/#supplemental-restraint-system-service-information) . Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__dtc-check-clear) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/restraints-control-systems/#supplemental-restraint-system-diagnostics-introduction) . Turn the engine switch off. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(/lexus/is-f/i-2007-2014/remont/airbag/#occupant-classification-system-diagnostics-introduction__dtc-check-clear) . OK DTC is not output. NEXT: Go to next step
