- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT Temporarily install 2 nuts to the front axle hub bolts as shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Nut Recommended service nut Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) NOTE: Install the nuts to prevent damage to the hub bolts. Using SST and a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the front axle hub sub-assembly, remove the front axle hub bolt. SST: 09628-10011 NOTE: Do not damage the threads of the front axle hub bolts.
- INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT Install a washer and nut to a new front axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Nut *b Washer Recommended service nut Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) HINT: Recommended thickness of the washer is 5 mm (0.197 in.) or more. Using a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the front axle, install the hub bolt by tightening the nut. NOTE: Install the nuts to prevent damage to the front axle hub bolts. Do not damage the threads of the front axle hub bolts. Remove the 3 nuts and washer from the 3 front axle hub bolts.

- INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Install the front disc brake caliper assembly to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts. Torque: 107 N*m (1089 kgf*cm, 79 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Do not twist the brake hose when installing the front disc brake caliper assembly.
- INSTALL FRONT WHEEL Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal and close the front luggage compartment trim cover. Connect the reservoir level switch connector. Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398097-S18517405762011051600000) .

- SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR Remove the bolt and clamp, and separate the front speed sensor wire. NOTE: Be sure to separate the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber with coil spring completely. Remove the bolt and separate the front speed sensor from the steering knuckle. NOTE: Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor tip. Be careful not to damage the front speed sensor. Clean the speed sensor installation hole and the contact surfaces every time the speed sensor is removed.
- SEPARATE FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE Remove the bolt and separate the front flexible hose from the steering knuckle.

- SEPARATE FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, and separate the front No. 1 lower suspension arm sub-assembly from the front lower ball joint.
- SEPARATE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly and front axle hub sub-assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Matchmark Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle assembly. If it is difficult to separate, tap the end of the front drive shaft assembly using a brass bar and a hammer. NOTE: Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot and speed sensor rotor.
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and front axle assembly. NOTE: When removing the nuts, keep the bolts from rotating. Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot and speed sensor rotor.
- REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY Secure the front axle assembly between aluminium plates in a vise. NOTE: Do not overtighten the vise. Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover. NOTE: Do not drop the front axle hub sub-assembly.

- TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT Clean the threaded parts on the front drive shaft assembly and front axle shaft nut using a non-residue solvent. NOTE: Be sure to perform this work for a new front drive shaft assembly. Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign matter. Using a socket wrench, install a new front axle hub shaft nut. Torque: 216 N*m (2203 kgf*cm, 159 ft.*lbf) NOTE: Stake the nut after inspecting for looseness and runout in the following steps. HINT: Keep depressing the brake pedal to prevent the front drive shaft from rotating.

- STAKE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT Using a chisel and hammer, stake the front axle shaft nut.

- INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY Hold the rear axle carrier sub-assembly between aluminium plates in a vise. NOTE: Do not overtighten the vise. Using a brass bar and a hammer, push out the bushing until it is positioned as shown in the illustration. HINT: Pushing out the bushing makes it easier to install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly. Using a jack and wooden block, jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly to replicate standard vehicle height conditions. WARNING: Do not jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly too high as the vehicle may fall. Temporarily install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly to the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly with the bolt (C) and nut. Temporarily tighten the parking brake assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the nut. NOTE: Do not twist the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly when installing the parking brake assembly. HINT: Fully tighten the nut after installing the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly with the 3 bolts. Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf) NOTE: Make sure that the 3 guides of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly are inserted.

- FULLY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY Fully tighten the nut. Torque: 140 N*m (1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf)

- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal and close the front luggage compartment trim cover. Connect the reservoir level switch connector. Clear the DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398097-S18517405762011051600000) .
