  1. PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: w/ Navigation System (for HDD): After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. If the cable has been disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, it is necessary to initialize the system. To initialize the system, perform the following procedures: Move the vehicle to an open area with good GPS reception. HINT: The GPS icon is displayed on the map screen when the reception is good. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and then wait several minutes while the system acquires time and location data and activates Destination Assist and Destination. Turn the engine switch off and then on (IG) again to initialize XM Sports and XM Stocks services. HINT: XM Sports and XM Stocks services are only available if XM Radio is active and the vehicle is equipped with LEXUS ENFORM. XM Sports and XM Stocks services may take several minutes to update.
  2. PRECAUTIONS FOR DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY An HDD is built into the display and navigation module display to store map and other data which are used for the navigation system. Therefore, care must be taken with the following points when handling it. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *1 Hard Disk Drive *2 Display and Navigation Module Display *a Example - - Do not apply any vibration or shock to the display and navigation module display. NOTE: Do not drop or subject the display and navigation module display to severe impacts. Do not use the display and navigation module display if it has been dropped or subjected to any severe impacts. Do not remove the display and navigation module display if there is a risk that condensation may occur. NOTE: If the temperature of the display and navigation module display changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the display and navigation module display is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity. Take measures to prevent static electricity. NOTE: Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Keep the display and navigation module display away from magnets or magnetized items. NOTE: Keep the display and navigation module display away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.
  3. PRECAUTIONS FOR HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD) The map data for the navigation system is stored on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Make sure to follow the following instructions when replacing the HDD. NOTE: Data downloaded by the customer may be stored on the HDD (w/ Manual [SOS] Switch). This data will be lost when the HDD is replaced. Make sure to warn the customer that the data will be lost and obtain their consent prior to replacing the HDD. The HDD must only be replaced with a new one. Do not install a used HDD from another vehicle. NOTE: The display and navigation module display can only recognize a new HDD. Do not touch the HDD cover. NOTE: When removing or installing the HDD, only hold it by the areas shown in the illustration. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Example *b CORRECT *c INCORRECT Do not apply any vibration or shock to the HDD. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. DESCRIPTION LEXUS ENFORM allows the vehicle to receive information from the XM radio satellite and call center and links the information to the navigation system. LEXUS ENFORM permits the driver to use the received information, such as destination information, weather information, sports news and stock information on the navigation system display and navigation module display.*1 The equipment for receiving this service is installed as standard equipment.*2 LEXUS ENFORM provides the following services: Destination Assist, eDestination, Lexus Insider, XM NavTraffic, XM NavWeather, XM Stocks, XM Sports, Maintenance Reminder, Voice Command, and Safety Connect. For details about Safety Connect, refer to Safety Connect System. Refer to «SYSTEM DESCRIPTION»(ref-524133-S20699914682013012800000) . LEXUS ENFORM consists mainly of a telephone microphone assembly, DCM (telematics transceiver), display and navigation module display, and telephone and GPS antenna. HINT: *1: LEXUS ENFORM is available in the continental U.S., excluding Alaska and Hawaii. In addition, Canada, Mexico and unincorporated territories of the U.S. such as Puerto Rico are not included in the service area. *2: LEXUS ENFORM requires a Safety Connect subscription. XM NavTraffic and XM NavWeather require separate subscriptions to receive their services. XM Sports and XM Stocks are included with the XM Radio subscription if the vehicle is equipped with LEXUS ENFORM.
  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS Component Outline Telephone Microphone Assembly Receives user's voice. DCM (Telematics Transceiver) Receives content information. Connects to the call center when the Destination Assist, eDestination or similar services are active. Sends the vehicle maintenance information signal to the call center. Display and Navigation Module Display Receives the XM satellite radio information signals from the XM tuner built into the radio receiver (distributed from the broadcast, which includes content information, stock price information, sports related news and weather information). Sends, receives and outputs the microphone voice signal. Navigation Antenna Assembly Receives signals from the GPS satellites and transmits these signals to the display and navigation module display. Antenna Assembly Satellite Radio Antenna Receives radio signals from XM satellites. Telephone Antenna This antenna is for mobile phones. It supports transmission and reception of signals in frequency bands for mobile phones. Transmits signals from the DCM (telematics transceiver) and receives signals from the call center or other phones. GPS Antenna Receives signals from GPS satellites and transmits these signals to the DCM (telematics transceiver). Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly Sends the call center advisor's voice to the front speaker. Front Speaker Outputs the call center advisor's voice. Combination Meter Assembly Sends the vehicle information signal to the DCM (telematics transceiver) and display and navigation module display.
  3. SERVICES FUNCTION Service Function Destination Assist Downloads the user's desired destination information into the navigation system after the call center is told the destination. Stores the information downloaded in the navigation system so the information can be reused as required. Destination Assist is an in-vehicle service that allows subscribers to request directions to any location. Subscribers are connected to an agent through the Destination Assist soft key and may ask the agent to download the location of any destination to the navigation system in the vehicle. Agents are able to locate specific Points Of Interest (POIs) by search terms, locate specific addresses, or provide Zagat-rated restaurants as premium POIs. Agents are able to search for POIs using the distance from the vehicle, from a city, or from another POI. The vehicle device can store up to 5 POIs at a time, which can be added to the device queue as the first or last entry, or as a replacement for all entries. eDestination Allows the user to edit the destination information stored in the call center database through the Lexus.com owners web site using a personal computer. The edited information can be wirelessly downloaded to the vehicle. The destination information can be separated into a maximum of 20 folders. Each folder can save up to 10 items. Lexus Insider Receives audio data content such as audio messages and articles, and allows the user to display, play and delete them on the vehicle audio system. Receives non user-specific content distributed via XM satellite radio and any user-specific content via the DCM (telematics transceiver). XM NavTraffic Displays traffic congestion information using icons, arrows and indicators on the navigation map according to the traffic information received via the XM satellite radio. XM NavWeather Displays weather information received via the XM satellite radio. Gives weather warnings issued within approx. a 25 km (15.5 mile) radius of the vehicle location through voice messages and graphic displays. Displays weather forecasts for 3 days when a city icon on the map is pressed or when the city name is selected from the list on the screen. XM Stocks Displays stock price information received via the XM satellite radio. Displays up to 10 user registered stock symbols and their price information. XM Sports Displays sports related news received via the XM satellite radio. Allows the user to register up to 5 teams. Maintenance Reminder Determines the maintenance timing recommended by dealers according to the vehicle mileage information signal that is sent from the DCM (telematics transceiver) to the call center, and reminds the user of the maintenance timing.

DESCRIPTION

This circuit is used to send and receive signals between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and the display and navigation module display.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM - DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY) Disconnect the H36 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector. Disconnect the H35 display and navigation module display connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
