  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter. Refer to «CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600416-S12867992342014022400000) . NOTE: Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation. HINT: Performing the above operation causes the auto tilt away function to be disabled when the power switch is turned off. Turn the power switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly. Turn the power switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600412-S41156157812014022400000) .
  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600607-S40512399912014022400000)
  4. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera) Remove the 3 screws. Detach the 2 claws to remove the steering column lower cover. NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch. Detach the 4 clips. Detach the 2 claws to remove the steering column upper cover.
  5. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) Remove the 3 screws. Detach the 2 claws to remove the steering column lower cover. NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch. Detach the 4 clips. Detach the 2 claws. Disconnect the connectors and remove the steering column cover.
  6. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connectors. Detach the 2 claws with a screwdriver. Then remove the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.
  7. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT LOWER PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600605-S41127358162014022400000)
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] - Step 28»(ref-600577-S13283158512014022400000)
  9. REMOVE STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Remove the clamp from the steering column hole cover. Loosen the bolt of the steering sliding with shaft yoke closest to the vehicle interior. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Vehicle Interior Remove the bolt of the power steering link and the steering sliding with shaft yoke. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Vehicle Interior Slide the steering sliding with shaft yoke and place matchmarks. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Slide *b Matchmark Disconnect the steering sliding with shaft yoke from the power steering link.
  10. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (TILT STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WITH MOTOR) Disconnect the connectors. Remove the brake pedal return spring. Remove the 4 nuts and steering column assembly.
  11. DISCONNECT STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Put matchmarks on the steering sliding with shaft yoke and steering column assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Matchmark Remove the bolt and disconnect the steering sliding with shaft yoke sub-assembly.
  12. REMOVE STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Remove the bolt and steering sliding with shaft yoke sub-assembly. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Vehicle Interior
  13. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and steering column hole cover.

INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ]

  1. INSTALL NO. 1 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the steering column hole cover with the 2 nuts and 2 bolts. Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
  2. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Temporarily install the steering sliding with shaft yoke to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.
  3. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Align the matchmarks and install the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft to the steering column assembly. Install the bolt. Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf)
  4. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (TILT STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WITH MOTOR) Install the steering column assembly with the 4 nuts. Torque: 26 N*m (260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf) Install the brake pedal return spring. Connect the connectors.
  5. CONNECT STEERING SLIDING WITH SHAFT YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Align the matchmark on the steering sliding with shaft yoke with the matchmark on the power steering link and install the bolt. Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) Tighten the bolt of the steering sliding with shaft yoke closest to the vehicle interior. Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) Attach the clamp to the No. 1 steering column hole cover.
  6. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ] - Step 9»(ref-600577-S04442795862014022400000)
  7. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT LOWER PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600605-S13281863342014022400000)
  8. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Attach the 2 claws to install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable. Connect the connectors.
  9. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) Connect the connector. Attach the 2 claws to install the steering column upper cover. Attach the 4 clips. Attach the 2 claws to install the steering column lower cover. NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch. Install the 3 screws.
  10. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera) Attach the 2 claws to install the steering column upper cover. Attach the 4 clips. Attach the 2 claws to install the steering column lower cover. NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch. Install the 3 screws.
  11. ADJUST SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ] - Step 7»(ref-600605-S27878878872014022400000)
  12. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600607-S01666244962014022400000)
  13. CHECK FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
  14. CONNECT CABLE TO AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL NOTE: Reset the auto tilt away function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter. Refer to «CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600416-S12867992342014022400000) . When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to «INITIALIZATION [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600412-S41156157812014022400000) .
  15. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT Refer to «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600414-S16656841442014022400000)

Note. Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY See step 2

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE Remove the cruise control main switch wire.
  7. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER . Refer to «REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] - Step 3»(ref-600573-S02151661272014022400000)
  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] - Step 4»(ref-600573-S02151661272014022400000)
  9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL BOSS LOWER COVER w/ Steering Heater: Disconnect the connector from the steering wheel heater control assembly. Detach the 4 claws to remove the steering wheel boss lower cover from the steering wheel.
  10. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater) See step 2
  11. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER Remove the 2 screws and shake damper.
  1. INSTALL STEERING SHAKE DAMPER Install the shake damper with the 2 screws.
  2. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater) See step 1
  3. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL BOSS LOWER COVER w/ Steering Heater: Connect the connector to the steering wheel heater control assembly. Attach the 4 claws to install the steering boss cover to the steering wheel assembly.
  4. INSTALL TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1»(ref-600573-S24783553062014022400000)
  5. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER . Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ] - Step 2»(ref-600573-S24783553062014022400000)
  6. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE Install the cruise control switch wire.
  7. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH . Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ] - Step 1»(ref-600437-S12249939172014022400000)
  8. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY See step 1
  9. ADJUST SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ] - Step 7»(ref-600605-S27878878872014022400000)
  10. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft assembly. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut. Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) Connect the connectors to the spiral cable.

  2. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connector from the spiral cable. Disconnect the connector and remove the clamp. Remove the 2 screws. Detach the 2 pins and 2 claws and remove the switch assembly.
  1. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY Attach the 2 claws and 2 pins to install the pad switch assembly. Install the 2 screws. Connect the connector and clamp. Connect the connector to the spiral cable.

  1. INSTALL TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH Attach the claw to install the tilt and telescopic switch. Connect the connector.
  2. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER Attach the 2 claws to install the steering column lower cover. NOTE: Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch. Install the 3 screws.
  3. CONNECT CABLE TO AUXILIARY BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL See step 14

  2. REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY (STEERING HEATER SWITCH) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the integration control and panel assembly from the No. 1 instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly. HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  1. INSTALL INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY (STEERING HATER SWITCH) Attach the 2 claws to install the integration control and panel assembly to the No. 1 instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly.
  2. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY Refer to «INSTALLATION [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600592-S20545902522014022400000)
