- CHECK AIR CONDITIONER PRESSURE SENSOR (SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT) Turn the power switch on (Ready). Measure the voltage when the following conditions are satisfied. Item Condition Vehicle Doors Fully open Temperature Setting LO Blower Speed Hi A/C Switch On R/F Switch Recirculation Interior Temperature 25 to 35°C (77 to 95°F) NOTE: If refrigerant pressure on the high pressure side becomes extremely high during the inspection (if the voltage exceeds 4.8 V), the fail-safe function stops compressor operation. Therefore, measure the voltage before the fail-safe operation. It is necessary to measure the voltage for a certain amount of time (approximately 10 minutes) because the problem symptom may recur after a while. HINT: When the outside air temperature is low (below -1.5°C [29.3°F]), the compressor stops due to operation of the ambient temperature sensor and the evaporator temperature sensor to prevent the evaporator from freezing. In this case, perform the inspection in a warm indoor environment. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. Standard Voltage Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition N80-9 (PRE) - Body ground Conditions in "Measurement Condition" chart above are met 0.63 to 4.73 V TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Component with harness connected (Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly) RESULT Result Proceed to OK (When troubleshooting according to the DTC) A OK (When troubleshooting according to Problem Symptoms Table) B NG C B --> See step 19 C --> See step 13 A --> See step 21

- CHECK FOR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM LEAK Install the manifold gauge set. Recover the refrigerant from the air conditioning system using a refrigerant recovery unit. Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600577-S19636881282014022400000) . Evacuate the air conditioning system and check that vacuum can be maintained in it. OK Vacuum can be maintained in the air conditioning system. HINT: If vacuum cannot be maintained in the air conditioning system, refrigerant may be leaking from it. In this case, it is necessary to repair or replace the leaking part of the air conditioning system. NG --> See step 12 OK: Go to next step

Refer to «REPLACEMENT [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600577-S31273849072014022400000) . HINT: If refrigerant is added and the system has not been properly evacuated (insufficient vacuum time), moisture in the air remaining in the system will freeze in the expansion valve, blocking the flow on the high pressure side. Therefore, in order to confirm the problem, recover the refrigerant and properly evacuate the system. Add an appropriate amount of refrigerant, and check for DTCs. NEXT: Go to next step
- RECHECK FOR DTC Turn the power switch on (Ready). Recheck for DTCs when the following conditions are satisfied. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600428-S10848817492014022400000) . Item Condition Vehicle Doors Fully open Temperature Setting LO Blower Speed Hi A/C Switch On R/F Switch Recirculation Interior Temperature 25 to 35°C (77 to 95°F) NOTE: If refrigerant pressure on the high pressure side becomes high, the DTC will be set. It is necessary to measure the voltage for a certain amount of time (approximately 10 minutes) because the DTC may be set after the air conditioning operates for a while. HINT: When the outside air temperature is low (below -1.5°C [29.3°F]), the compressor stops due to operation of the ambient temperature sensor and the evaporator temperature sensor to prevent the evaporator from freezing. In this case, perform the inspection in a warm indoor environment. OK DTC B1423/23 is not output NOTE: If the DTC was set due to an insufficient or excessive amount of refrigerant, the problem may have been solved after performing the previous step. However, the root cause of insufficient refrigerant may be refrigerant leaks. The root cause of excessive refrigerant may be adding refrigerant when the level was insufficient. Therefore, identify and repair the area where refrigerant leaks from as necessary. NG --> See step 11 OK --> END (AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT WAS DEFECTIVE)

If refrigerant is added and the system has not been properly evacuated (insufficient vacuum time), moisture in the air remaining in the system will freeze in the expansion valve, blocking the flow on the high pressure side. Therefore, in order to confirm the problem, recover the refrigerant and properly evacuate the system. Add an appropriate amount of refrigerant, and check for DTCs. If the DTC is not output after this work, it indicates that the cooler dryer in the condenser is not able to absorb moisture in the refrigerant cycle. It is necessary to replace the cooler dryer in order to complete the repair. OK DTC B1423/23 is not output NG --> See step 16 OK --> See step 24
- REPLACE COOLER EXPANSION VALVE Replace the cooler expansion valve with a new one. Refer to «DISASSEMBLY [03/2012 - ]»(ref-600577-S35351757682014022400000) . HINT: Replace the cooler expansion valve with a new one because the cooler expansion valve is either stuck or clogged. NEXT: Go to next step

In this case, perform the inspection in a warm indoor environment. If refrigerant pressure is not normal after replacing the expansion valve with a normal one, the condenser or pipes may be clogged due to dirt, dust or other foreign matter. | WARNING | When performing this DTC troubleshooting, use either a tool wrapped with vinyl insulation tape or a insulated tool. (It is extremely dangerous when a high voltage charge passes through a non-insulated tool causing a short.) Before inspecting the high voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high voltage system. Refer to REMOVAL [03/2012 - ] . After removing the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting for 10 minutes, check the voltage at the terminals in the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work. Refer to PRECAUTION [03/2012 - ] . HINT: Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly. |
Note. After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work. Refer to PRECAUTION [03/2012 - ] . Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure. The hybrid control system and air conditioning system output DTCs separately. Inspect DTCs following the diagnosis procedure for the hybrid control system first if any DTCs from those systems are output simultaneously. Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure. Electrical insulation performance may decrease significantly if even a small amount of oil other than ND-OIL 11 is used (or enters) in the refrigerant cycle, causing the DTC P0AA6-611 to be output. If other oil is accidentally used and a DTC P0AA6-611 is output, collect the oil in the refrigerant cycle into the compressor and replace it with ND-OIL 11 to increase the ND-OIL 11 ratio amount. Replace the main components (evaporator, condenser, and compressor) if a large amount of oil other than ND-OIL 11 enters the system. Failing to do so may cause electrical insulation performance to remain low, causing the DTC P0AA6-611 to be output. HINT: If it can be confirmed that any compressor oil other than ND-OIL 11 has been used in the vehicle, replace the air conditioning cycle. The hybrid control system and air conditioning system output DTCs separately. Inspect DTCs following the diagnosis procedure for the hybrid control system first if any DTCs from those systems are output simultaneously.
