PROCEDURE

  1. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT NEXT: Go to next step
  2. RECONFIRM DTC Check for DTCs. Result A DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times. B DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration once or twice. C Normal system code is output. HINT: Replace the power steering ECU assembly if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times. C --> END B --> See step 1 A: Go to next step
  3. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY NEXT: Go to next step
  4. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT Initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  5. RECONFIRM DTC Check for DTCs. Result A DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times. B DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration once or twice. C Normal system code is output. HINT: Replace the power steering link assembly if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times. NOTE: If replacing the power steering link assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . If replacing the power steering link assembly, perform VGRS actuator angle initialization and VGRS actuator angle neutral calibration after wheel alignment adjustment. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-382810-S14733650782011012800000) for INITIALIZATION, refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382810-S39353253692011012800000) for CALIBRATION). C --> END B --> See step 4 A --> REPLACE POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY
  1. CLEAR DTC NEXT: Go to next step

  6. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT Initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . NEXT: Go to next step

NOTE: If replacing the power steering link assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . If replacing the power steering link assembly, perform VGRS actuator angle initialization and VGRS actuator angle neutral calibration after wheel alignment adjustment. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-382810-S14733650782011012800000) for INITIALIZATION, refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382810-S39353253692011012800000) for CALIBRATION).   1. RECONFIRM DTC Check for DTCs. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-382573-S06970880742011012800000) . OK DTCs other than C1531, C1533 and C1534 are not output. NOTE: If replacing the power steering ECU assembly, initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . NG --> REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE OK --> REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
  1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT Check if DTC U0073 or U0121 is output. Result DTC Condition Proceed to No output A U0129 is output B NOTE: DTC U0129 indicates a skid control ECU communication malfunction in the electric power steering system. B --> REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE A: Go to next step
  2. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT Check for DTCs of the VSC & Electronically Controlled Brake system. Result DTC Condition Proceed to No output A C0200, C0205, C0210, C0215, C1235, C1236, C1238 or C1239 is output B HINT: These DTCs indicate a speed sensor signal malfunction in the VSC & Electronically Controlled Brake system. NOTE: If replacing the power steering ECU assembly, initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . B --> REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE A --> REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
  1. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY NOTE: If replacing the power steering ECU assembly, initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . NEXT --> END
  1. PERFORM ASSIST MAP WRITING Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for 30 seconds or more. HINT: Assist map is automatically written when approximately 30 seconds have elapsed after the engine switch is turned on (IG). DTC C1581 will be cleared after the assist map is written. Check for DTCs. OK DTC C1581 is not output. OK --> RETURN TO NORMAL NG: Go to next step
  2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Check for DTCs of the CAN communication system. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM»(ref-382784-S35354466232011012800000) . OK DTCs are not output. NG --> REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Check for DTCs in the multiplex communication system. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-382788-S39836073052011012800000) . OK DTCs are not output. NG --> REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE OK: Go to next step
  4. CHECK ECM Check if a qualified ECM is installed. OK A qualified ECM is installed. NOTE: Perform the RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) procedures if replacing the ECM. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-382737-S10048942252011012800000) for AA80E, refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-382733-S10012586692011012800000) for A760E, refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-382734-S18013438302011012800000) for A760H). NG --> REPLACE ECM OK: Go to next step
  5. CHECK NETWORK GATEWAY ECU Check if a qualified network gateway ECU is installed. OK A qualified network gateway ECU is installed. NOTE: If replacing the power steering ECU assembly, initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to «CALIBRATION»(ref-382573-S05048789232011012800000) . NG --> REPLACE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU OK --> REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
  1. CHECK DTC Using the Techstream, check for DTCs. NEXT --> GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING
