DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

WARNINGVehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTIONWhen battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

Manual Lumbar Support Operation

When the lumbar support control switch is pressed forward, the current flows from the D P/SEAT (30-amp) fuse into terminal No. 4 to terminal No. 1 of the lumbar support control switch to terminal No. 2 of the power seat motor (lumbar support control) to terminal No. 1 to terminal No. 2 of the switch to terminal No. 3 to ground, to move the lumbar support forward.

When the switch is pressed backward, the current from the D P/SEAT (30-amp) fuse flows into terminal No. 4 to terminal No. 2 of the lumbar support control switch to terminal No. 1 of the power seat motor (lumbar support control) to terminal No. 2 to terminal No. 1 of the switch to terminal No. 3 to ground, to move the lumbar support backward.

Manual Reclining Operation

When the reclining switch of the power seat switch is pressed forward, the signal is input to connector P19 terminal No. 21 of the power seat ECU. This activates the power seat ECU to flow the current into connector P18 terminal No. 1 of the power seat ECU to terminal No. 1 of the power seat motor (reclining control) to terminal No. 2 to connector P18 terminal No. 2 of the ECU to ground, to tilt the seat back forward while the power seat control switch is kept pressed.

When the reclining switch of the power seat control switch is pressed backward, the signal is input to connector P19 terminal No. 22 of the power seat ECU. This activates the ECU to flow the current into connector P18 terminal No. 2 of the power seat ECU, terminal No. 2 of the power seat motor (reclining control) to terminal No. 1 to connector P18 terminal No. 1 of the ECU to ground, to tilt the seat backward.

At this time, the power seat position sensor (reclining control) detects the seat back position and always inputs it to connector P19 terminal No. 5 of the power seat ECU.

Manual Slide Operation

When the slide switch of the power seat control switch is pressed to FRONT position, the signal is input to connector P19 terminal No. 15 of the power seat ECU. This activates the power seat ECU to flow the current into connector P18 terminal No. 3 of the power seat ECU to terminal No. 2 of the power seat motor (slide control) to terminal No. 1 to connector P18 terminal No. 4 of the ECU to ground, to move the seat forward while the power seat control switch is kept pressed.

When the slide switch of the power seat control switch is pressed to the REAR position, the signal is input to connector P19 terminal No. 16 of the power seat ECU. This activates the ECU to flow the current into connector P18 terminal No. 4 of the power seat ECU, terminal No. 1 of the power seat motor (slide control) to terminal No. 2 to connector P18 terminal No. 3 of the ECU to ground, to move the seat back backward.

At this time, the power seat position sensor (slide control) detects the seat position and always inputs it to connector P19 terminal No. 14 of the power seat ECU.
