CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH

See CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS article.

HORN SWITCH

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove covers from sides of steering wheel, then loosen Torx screws securing air bag module to steering wheel. Lift out air bag module and place it on top of steering column (leave connector attached). Disconnect harness connector from combination switch. (Scheme 12)
  2. Connect ohmmeter between chassis ground and terminal No. 6 of 6-pin connector (backprobe terminal). There should be no continuity. Press horn contact plate against steering wheel spoke. There should be continuity. If continuity is not as specified, replace steering wheel or harness as necessary.

IGNITION SWITCH

Remove ignition switch. Check for continuity between specified terminals of ignition switch. See appropriate IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY table. (Scheme 13), (Scheme 14) or (Scheme 15). If continuity is not as specified, replace ignition switch.

KEY UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH

Remove ignition switch. Key unlock warning switch is mounted on ignition switch. Insert ignition key into ignition switch. Check continuity between key unlock warning switch terminals No. 1 and 2 (GS300, GS400 and LS400) or terminals No. 9 and 10 (SC300 and SC400). (Scheme 18) Continuity should exist. If continuity does not exist, replace key unlock warning switch.

LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH

Remove steering column covers. Disconnect electrical connectors from combination switch. Check for continuity between specified terminals of combination switch connector. (Scheme 16), (Scheme 17) or (Scheme 18). See appropriate LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH CONTINUITY table. If continuity does not exist, replace switch.
