SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM

If self-diagnostic system detects a fault, it stores a trouble code in the ECM memory, and grounds the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) circuit, which causes the MIL to come on. For more information, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article.
