REMOVAL [06/2012 - ]

Note. Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG). Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG). Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
2. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL [06/2012 - ]»(ref-598451-S10127139952014021400000)
3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable sub-assembly. w/ Steering Heater: Disconnect the connector. Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Matchmark Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly. SST: 09950-50013 09951-05010 09952-05010 09953-05020 09954-05070 TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Turn *b Hold NOTE: Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.
4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY See step 2
5. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH . Refer to «REMOVAL [06/2012 - ] - Step 2»(ref-598474-S35582052972014021400000)
6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE Remove the cruise control switch wire.
7. REMOVE STEERING SHAKE DAMPER Remove the 2 screws and steering shake damper from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
8. REMOVE LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER w/ Steering Heater: Disconnect the connector. Remove the double-sided tape and separate the steering heater harness from the lower steering wheel boss cover. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Double-sided Tape Disengage the 4 claws to remove the lower steering wheel boss cover from the steering wheel sub-assembly.
9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater) See step 2

INSTALLATION [06/2012 - ]

Note. Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG). Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG). Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

1. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL HEATER CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Steering Heater) See step 1
2. INSTALL LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER Engage the 4 claws to install the lower steering wheel boss cover to the steering wheel sub-assembly. NOTE: Do not allow the steering heater wire harness to be caught between the lower steering wheel boss cover and the steering wheel sub-assembly. w/ Steering Heater: Remove the release paper from new double-sided tape and install the steering heater harness to the lower steering wheel boss cover. NOTE: Do not touch the adhesive surface of the double-sided tape. Connect the connector to the steering wheel heater control assembly.
3. INSTALL STEERING SHAKE DAMPER Install the steering shake damper to the steering wheel sub-assembly with the 2 screws. Torque: 2.4 N*m (24 kgf*cm, 21 in.*lbf)
4. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE Install the cruise control switch wire.
5. INSTALL CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH . Refer to «INSTALLATION [06/2012 - ] - Step 1»(ref-598474-S05318643852014021400000)
6. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY See step 1
7. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
8. INSPECT AND ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION [06/2012 - ] - Step 6»(ref-598451-S31798076212014021400000)
9. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Install the steering wheel assembly aligning the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft. TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION *a Matchmark Install the steering wheel assembly set nut. Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) w/ Steering Heater: Connect the connector. Connect the connectors to the spiral cable sub-assembly.

2. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY Disengage the clamp to separate the connector from the lower steering wheel boss cover. Remove the 2 screws. Disengage the 2 claws and 2 pins to remove the steering pad switch assembly from the steering wheel sub-assembly.

1. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY Engage the 2 claws and 2 pins to install the steering pad switch assembly to the steering wheel sub-assembly. Install the 2 screws. Torque: 2.4 N*m (24 kgf*cm, 21 in.*lbf) Engage the clamp to install the connector to the lower steering wheel boss cover.

1. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Refer to «REMOVAL [06/2012 - ]»(ref-598451-S04532970082014021400000)
2. REMOVE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU Disconnect the connector from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU. Disengage the wire harness clamp. Disengage the claw to remove the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU from the steering column assembly.

1. INSTALL MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU Engage the claw to install the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU to the steering column assembly. Engage the wire harness clamp. Connect the connector to the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU.
