Power Mirror Control (W/ Memory) (Diagnostics & Symptom Tests): Overview Lexus ES XV40 facelift

Mirrors 21 illustrations ~2763 words

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The memory system can store the driver seat, front passenger seat, outside rear view mirror positions and tilt & telescopic position. Up to 2 memory positions can be stored in the system memory and recalled. 2 positions can be saved for the driver memory switch or front passenger memory switch.

  1. Each seat ECU stores the seat position (seat slide, front vertical, rear vertical and reclining) in its memory. Each seat ECU is built into the power seat switch.
  2. The mirror ECU stores the outside rear view mirror position in its memory.
  3. The tile & telescopic ECU stores the tilt & telescopic position in its memory.
  4. The seat ECU (Driver) outputs a reproduction signal to ECU.

DESCRIPTION

  1. A switch signal of the outer mirror switch is transmitted to the selected outer mirror control ECU by way of the main body ECU. Then, the outer mirror control ECU activates the mirror motor to move the mirror UP, DOWN, RIGHT and LEFT in response to the input.
  2. Mirror control switch and memorized mirror position signals (from the position control ECU & switch (seat ECU)) are sent to the mirror control ECU. The mirror control ECU moves the selected mirror UP, DOWN, LEFT and RIGHT in response to the input.

HINT

The power mirror control system is a part of the multiplex communication system. This system features shared communication wiring that reduces the wiring complexity of the communication lines. The first step in any repair is to confirm the proper operation of the communication system. Proceed with troubleshooting after the communication has been verified (See MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION the Multiplex Communication System).

When the mirror defogger switch, which is built into the heater control assembly, is operated, operation signals are transmitted to the A/C amplifier assembly through LIN. When the amplifier assembly receives the signals, it turns on the RR DEF relay to operate the mirror defogger.

After the transmission control ECU receives a reverse signal from the park/neutral position switch, transmission control ECU the sends a reverse signal to the outer mirror control ECU via the CAN communication systems. The outer mirror control ECU activates the mirror motor in response to the reverse signal.
