REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
Removal
- Release the rain sensor cover. (Scheme 4)
- Pull out the stopper and release the lock. (Scheme 5)
- Disconnect the connector and remove the rain sensor.

Installation
Connect the connector, install the rain sensor and rain sensor cover. (Scheme 6)
- Check if the rain sensor tape remains on the windshield glass after removing the rain sensor. If it remains, remove it.
- Clean the glass with a soft cloth, etc.
- The rain sensor tape is reusable, however, in case it is dirty or damaged, replace the rain sensor and rain sensor tape with new ones.
- Attach the rain sensor tape so that bubbles do not enter between the windshield glass and rain sensor tape, or the rain sensor tape and rain sensor.

- Remove the windshield wiper arm cover.
- Remove the LH front wiper arm. Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop position.
- Remove the RH front wiper arm.
- Remove the RH cowl top ventilator louver by removing the 6 clips. (Scheme 7)
- Remove the windshield wiper link assembly by disconnecting the connector and removing 4 bolts. (Scheme 8)
- Remove the windshield wiper motor assembly by disengaging the meshing of the rod at the clank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly. (Scheme 9) Remove the 3 bolts and windshield wiper motor assembly from the windshield wiper link assembly. (Scheme 10)

- Install the windshield wiper motor assembly. Apply grease to the clank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly. Install the windshield wiper motor assembly with the 3 bolts to the windshield wiper link assembly. Tighten bolts to specified torque. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-152463-S02214317052003020600000).
- Install the windshield wiper link assembly with the 4 bolts. (Scheme 8) Tighten bolts to specified torque. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-152463-S02214317052003020600000). Connect the connector.
- Install the RH front wiper arm. Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop position. Scrape off the serration part of the wiper arm with a round file or equivalent. (Scheme 11) Clean the wiper pivot serration with the wire brush. Align the front wiper blade front end with the mark and install the RH front wiper arm with the nut. (Scheme 12) Tighten the nut to specified torque. - Install the LH front wiper arm. Clean the wiper pivot serration with the wire brush. Align the front wiper blade rear end with the mark and install the LH front wiper arm with the nut. (Scheme 13) Tighten the nut to specified torque. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-152463-S02214317052003020600000). Operate the wiper while running the water or the washer fluid over the window and check the wiping condition and that the wiper does not hit against the vehicle body.

- Remove the steering column cover. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION of INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY under «INSTRUMENT PANEL - ES 300»(ref-152357) article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Remove the windshield wiper switch assembly. Disconnect the connector. Using a screwdriver, release the claw and pull out the windshield wiper switch assembly. (Scheme 14)
- For installation, reverse removal procedure.
