Removal
- PNP switch is located on side of transaxle. Disconnect switch connector. Remove shift control nut and cable from manual lever. Remove lock nut, washer and manual lever from control shaft. (Scheme 17)
- Bend up tabs on lock washer. Remove lock nut, lock washer and seal from control shaft. Remove adjusting bolts and PNP switch.

- Install switch on control shaft. Loosely install PNP position switch adjusting bolts. Install seal and lock washer. Install lock nut and tighten to 61 INCH lbs. (6.9 N.m). Bend tabs on lock washer over against lock nut.
- Ensure parking brake is applied. Temporarily install manual lever. Turn lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn clockwise 2 notches. Remove manual lever. Rotate switch and align reference mark on switch with groove. (Scheme 17) Hold switch in this position. Tighten 2 adjusting bolts to 48 INCH lbs. (5.4 N.m). Stake lock tab onto nut. Install manual lever, washer and nut. Tighten nut to 61 INCH lbs. (6.9 N.m). Install shift control cable and nut. Tighten nut to 11 ft. lbs. (15 N.m). Connect switch connector.
Removal & Installation
Shift solenoids are located on transaxle valve body. Raise and support vehicle. Remove transaxle oil pan. See appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING. Disconnect electrical connector on shift solenoid. Remove bolt and shift solenoid. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW "O" ring on shift solenoid.
Speed sensors are located on top of transaxle. see scheme 2 Disconnect electrical connector. Remove bolt and speed sensor. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW "O" ring on speed sensor. Tighten bolt to 97 INCH lbs. (11.0 N.m).
