Wheel Alignment Specifications & Procedures Lexus ES V20

ES250 Front Suspension

  1. Check tires for wear and improper inflation. Check front wheel bearings for looseness. Check wheel runout. Wheel runout should not exceed .039" (1 mm).
  2. Check front suspension components for looseness. Ensure front shock absorbers work properly. Check vehicle riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT article.
  3. Check camber of both front wheels. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(/lexus/es/v20-1989-1991/remont/wheel-alignment/#wheel-alignment-specifications-procedures) . If camber is not within specification, inspect and replace any damaged or worn front suspension components. Camber is not adjustable.

ES250 Rear Suspension

Check tires for wear and improper inflation. Check camber of both rear wheels. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS . If camber is not within specification, inspect and replace any damaged or worn rear suspension components. Rear camber is not adjustable.

LS400 Front Suspension

  1. Check tires for wear and improper inflation. Check front wheel bearings for looseness. Check wheel runout. Wheel runout should not exceed.055" (1.4 mm).
  2. Check front suspension components for looseness. Ensure front shock absorbers work properly. Check vehicle riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT article.
  3. Check camber of both front wheels. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(/lexus/es/v20-1989-1991/remont/wheel-alignment/#wheel-alignment-specifications-procedures). If camber is not within specification, loosen camber adjustment cam. (Scheme 3) Camber angle changes by 7' 30" minutes (fraction: 7 1/2, decimal: 7.500) with each graduation on adjustment cam.

LS400 Rear Suspension

Check tires for wear and improper inflation. Ensure length of No. 1 and No. 2 lower suspension arms are equal. (Scheme 4) Check camber of both rear wheels. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS. If camber is not within specification, adjust camber by turning adjustment cams. (Scheme 6)

STEERING AXIS INCLINATION

Ensure riding height and camber are correctly set. See RIDING HEIGHT article. Also, see CAMBER ADJUSTMENT in this article. Check steering axis inclination of both front wheels. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS . If steering axis inclination is not within specification, inspect and replace any damaged or worn front suspension components. Steering axis inclination is not adjustable.

Ensure riding height, camber and steering axis inclination are correctly set. See RIDING HEIGHT article. Also, see CAMBER ADJUSTMENT and STEERING AXIS INCLINATION in this article. Check caster of both front wheels. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS . If caster is not within specification, adjust angle by adding or removing spacers. Caster angle changes by 30" minutes (fraction: 1/2, decimal: .500) with each spacer. DO NOT use more than 2 spacers to adjust caster.

Ensure riding height, camber and steering axis inclination are correctly set. See RIDING HEIGHT article. Also, see CAMBER ADJUSTMENT and STEERING AXIS INCLINATION in this article. Check caster of both front wheels. If caster is not within specification, adjust angle by loosening strut bar nuts and changing length of strut bar(s). (Scheme 3)

Front Suspension

Ensure riding height, camber, steering axis inclination and caster are correctly set. See RIDING HEIGHT article. Also, see CAMBER ADJUSTMENT, STEERING AXIS INCLINATION and CASTER ADJUSTMENT in this article. Ensure steering wheel is in a straight-ahead position. Bounce both ends of vehicle several times to settle suspension. Measure toe-in. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS . If necessary, adjust toe-in by varying length of tie rods.

  1. Ensure rear camber is correctly set. See CAMBER ADJUSTMENT in this article. Bounce both ends of vehicle several times to settle suspension. Measure distance between each wheel rim and corner of cam bracket to ensure both distances are the same. (Scheme 5)
  2. Measure toe-in. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(/lexus/es/v20-1989-1991/remont/wheel-alignment/#wheel-alignment-specifications-procedures). If necessary, adjust toe-in by turning adjustment cams. (Scheme 5) Turning adjustment cam one graduation will change toe by about.06" (1.5 mm).

Ensure rear camber is correctly set. See CAMBER ADJUSTMENT in this article. Bounce both ends of vehicle several times to settle suspension. Measure toe-in. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS. If necessary, adjust toe-in by turning adjustment cams. (Scheme 6)
