MODEL IDENTIFICATION

VIN LOCATION

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on the left side of the dash panel at the base of the windshield. The VIN chart explains the code characters.

SEVERE & NORMAL SERVICE DEFINITIONS

Service is recommended at mileage intervals based on vehicle operation. Service schedules are based on the following primary operating conditions

Normal Service

1. Driven More Than 10 Miles Daily
2. No Operating Conditions From Severe Service Schedule

Severe Service (Unique Driving Conditions)

1. Towing Or Heavily Loaded
2. Operating On Dusty, Rough, Muddy Or Salted Roads
3. Repeated Short Trips Of Less Than 5 Miles With Outside Temperatures Below Freezing
4. Extensive Idling Conditions (Taxi Or Delivery Type Service)

CAMSHAFT TIMING BELT

The condition of camshaft drive belts should always be checked on vehicles which have more than 50,000 miles. Although some manufacturers do not recommend belt replacement at a specified mileage, others require it at 60,000-100,000 miles. A camshaft drive belt failure may cause extensive damage to internal engine components on most engines, although some designs do not allow piston-to-valve contact. These designs are often called "Free Wheeling".

Many manufacturers changed their maintenance and warranty schedules in the mid-1980's to reflect timing belt inspection and/or replacement at 50,000-60,000 miles. Most service interval schedules in this manual reflect these changes.

Belts or components should be inspected and replaced if any of the following conditions exist

1. Cracks Or Tears In Belt Surface
2. Missing, Damaged, Cracked Or Rounded Teeth
3. Oil Contamination
4. Damaged Or Faulty Tensioners
5. Incorrect Tension Adjustment

Replace camshaft timing belt every 60,000 miles under Severe Service conditions.

WHEEL & TIRE SPECIFICATIONS

Recommended cold tire pressures, tire sizes and vehicle capacity weight can be found on label located on inside of glove box lid.

WHEEL TIGHTENING

Tighten all wheel lug nuts to 76 ft. lbs. (103 N.m).

BATTERY SPECIFICATIONS

Vehicle uses a BCI group 22 battery.

WHEEL INSTALLATION

Disc wheels are marked with turning direction indicators. When installing wheels, check marks carefully and install wheel correctly.

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (AIR BAG SYSTEM)

WARRANTY INFORMATION

NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY

Covers any repair or replacement of parts which becomes necessary due to defects in materials or workmanship under normal use for 48 months or 50,000 miles from in-service date.

POWERTRAIN WARRANTY

Covers following components and systems against defects in materials or workmanship for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever comes first, from vehicle's in-service date.

1. Engine Cylinder block, head and all internal parts, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, timing belt and cover, flywheel, oil pan, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, seals and gaskets and engine control computer.
2. Transaxle Case and all internal parts, torque converter, clutch cover, seals and gaskets, mounts and engine control computer.
3. Front Wheel Drive Drive shaft, axle, hub, bearings, seals and gaskets.
4. Restraint System Front and rear seat belts and air bag.

CORROSION PERFORATION WARRANTY

Covers any repair or replacement to body sheet metal which develops corrosion perforation (hole through panel) due to defects in material or workmanship for 6 years, regardless of mileage.

EMISSION DEFECT WARRANTY

Warrants to retail purchaser and subsequent purchaser that vehicle was designed, built and equipped so as to conform at time of sale with applicable emission regulations and that vehicle is free of defects in materials or workmanship which may cause vehicle to fail to conform with applicable regulations for 5 years or 50,000 miles. Warranty includes following systems.

2. Air Induction System
3. Ignition System
4. PCV System
5. Evaporative Control System
6. EGR System
7. Catalyst System
8. Miscellaneous Items In Above Systems

EMISSION PERFORMANCE WARRANTY

Covers all repairs, adjustments and replacements if vehicle fails to conform to applicable emission standards and such failure results or will result in vehicle owner bearing any penalty or other sanctions under local, state or federal law for 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. After 24 months or 24,000 miles, Lexus will make necessary adjustments, repairs and replacements at no cost to owner when noncompliance is caused by a failure of any of following parts.

FUSE PANEL LOCATION

This vehicle is equipped with 2 fuse panels. The dash fuse box is located behind driver's kick panel and main junction block is located in engine compartment.
