INTRODUCTION
The transmission fluid cooler is a separate cooling unit located behind the engine cooling radiator. The transmission is connected to the fluid cooler via flexible hoses and metal pipes.
The transmission cooler is a dedicated fluid cooler which is connected into the engine cooling system circuit. The transmission fluid is cooled by the temperature differential between the transmission fluid and the engine coolant flowing through the cooler and also by airflow over cooling fins on the end tank.
Fluid is supplied from the transmission fluid pump into the lower connection of the cooler. After passing through the cooler, the fluid passes out of the upper connection and is returned to transmission fluid pan.

- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/charging-system/#charging-system-general-information__specifications) .
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-42l__cooling-system-draining-filling-and-bleeding) .
- Remove the cooling fan. Refer to «Cooling Fan»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-42l__cooling-fan) .
- Disconnect the 3 transmission fluid cooler coolant hoses. Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the 2 transmission fluid cooler pipes. Depress the 2 quick release connectors.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler.
INSTALLATION
- Install the transmission fluid cooler.
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler pipes.
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler coolant hoses. Secure with the clips.
- Install the cooling fan. Refer to «Cooling Fan»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-42l__cooling-fan) .
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to «Specifications»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/charging-system/#charging-system-general-information__specifications) .
- Refill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-42l__cooling-system-draining-filling-and-bleeding) .
- Check and top-up the transmission fluid level. Refer to «Transmission Fluid Level Check»(/land-rover/range-rover/l322-2005-2009/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmissiontransaxle-44l__transmission-fluid-level-check) .
